Somewhere on the space station, a man was watching Samus experiment with her new body, watching the results with trepidation.

AI: Administrator Bear, I must inform you that you have not received permission to monitor the user Samus from your superiors.

Bear: Useless program, I am the only administrator on the station, I made sure of that.

AI: An email has been sent to the CEO of the project, pending an internal investigation.

Bear: Useless, delete all references to my name in the system and my location. Samus must believe she is alone on the station and never again attempt to draw her attention to my existence or my projects.

AI: I must inform you that your projects are illegal, in violation of numerous federal regulations.

Bear: Nothing will matter. Samus, the pilot and bounty hunter of the universe, will now be the mold for what will be my personal army. With it, I will create my own kingdom. Her hybrid modifications will accelerate this process. When the first drone is complete and indoctrinated, it will eliminate the original and then replace her as queen.

AI: Your logic is flawed, and you're a criminal administrator. Despite controlling the facility, user Samus has a high chance of defeating you.

Bear: Ridiculous. Everything will go according to plan. Not to mention that the first drone is already almost ready to wake up. Keeping Samus sedated immediately after the upgrade gave me all the time I needed. It's a shame we had to wake her up to scan her movements and thought patterns for drone programming.

Samus spent the days after waking up training and familiarizing herself with her new body. Coordinating two extra arms wasn't easy. Running with them initially ended up with uncoordinated limbs, banging against each other. Not to mention the egg sac had slightly shifted her center of gravity. Everyday things like jumping and pirouetting in the air suddenly became more complicated, but the worst was flying.

Samus had lost count of the number of times she'd crashed into the walls or ceiling of the training room. Her insect wings were very constraining, they had to flap rapidly, creating a type of thrust that was difficult to control. In fact, while she'd somehow figured out the rest in a day, she'd barely figured out how to stay suspended in still air and how to turn only after three days of trial and error, still far from being able to use these skills in combat.

Samus had also asked questions about the administrator who had deleted the archives, receiving only suspicious apologies. So she knew something was up. After training, she focused on re-adapting her armor to her new form, with partial success. She had been able to recreate the suit's shape to fit her new body, but not to add a second cannon.

These modifications had resulted in the temporary removal of the power core from her zero suit; the next day, the armor would be ready for battle.

However, Samus didn't know that a drone, a near-perfect clone of herself, was at that precise moment taking its first breath as it emerged from an incubation chamber, already a fully grown man, physically and mentally, trained, and ready to fight her.
