Chapter 10 by reaper13 reaper13

What should Liandra do after she is done ogling the baroness?

inquire about the reason she is here

"I did not originally come to serve justice. One of my oaths just prohibits me from letting crime happen unchecked."
Kendra stood back up and now conversed with Liandra on eye-level.
"My true reason for being here is of a diplomatic nature."
Liandra put her hands together, hoping to feel something from the ring, but nothing. Liandra had often heard that Nocternian hearts were black as the night and their tongues could speak nothing but lies. Yet, this ring has already proven that it worked. Is it just not effective on black mages, or is she really speaking the truth?

"And what might that be, if i am allowed to ask?"
"I am sorry, princess, but this is a patter that concerns only the king."
This time the ring responded to a lie. So it was effective on her. Liandra also noticed how the baroness combed her hand through her red hair when she spoke the lie.
"Your posture betrays you, baroness." Liandra told her. "Come now, you can tell me the truth, i won't pass it on to anyone else."
The Kendra thought abut it for a moment, but gave in to Liandra's wishes.
"Very well. My lord, the emperor has recently heard of drake attacks on villages just over the border in Luxian territory. It is his intent to strengthen the bond of friendship between our two nations by sending some soldiers to dispatch of these drakes."
Liandra's initial thoughts were that the Nocternians were planning to invade based on false attack reports, yet her ring told her otherwise. If this were true, then the Nocternians were noble, not vicious.

"Wouldn't many Luxians think of this as a sneak attack on our territory?"
"Yes they would, dear princess. Which is why i am here to negotiate a treaty for temporary deployment with your father."
The more Liandra talked with this Kendra, the more she liked her. She may look like a slutty person, but she didn't behave like it at all. She was a proud and strong person. Unafraid of danger, skillful in both the arts of magic and politics. So much different then she would have expected from a Nocternian.
for some unknown reason, she could feel her heart beating in her chest and felt warmer then usual.

Liandra would like to know more about the Nocternian and the country she came from. Or should she perhaps talk to Elysa first and see what her experiances with the Nocternians were.

Which person should liandra get to know better?
