...give one really hard yank

The yank sent her to the floor. She’d slipped, it was all over. The crowd enthusiastically clapped at her failure. Her opponent used the opening to pull the ribbon beyond the cone that marked her victory.

“And the winner is Jeannie!” Laura announced. She fumbled with the wedge for a moment and began to read. “Alice, each of your nipples will be adorned with a nipple ring for the remainder of the contest.”

“But--,” Alice protested.

“It might feel a little strange,” Laura continued, Alice’s words drowned , “but you still have the chance to win up to four hundred and fifty thousand dollars!”

Alice sighed. She needed that money to dig herself out of the hole she was in and maybe take a nice vacation somewhere. Still, the big, fat zero of her winnings up to that point was just making it worse.

One of the stagehands came over and handed her two quarter-sized metal objects that looked like little suns. In the middle of each was a hole for the nipple and a small screw to tighten the ring such that they would not come off easily. Reluctantly, she slipped the first over her left nipple and tightened the crew sufficiently before repeating the procedure with her right nipple.

“Alice,” Laura said, shocking her to the present, “please give the wheel a spin for round number four.”

Alice stepped forward and took a deep breath. She yanked the wheel downward and the colors blurred together. She clapped and smiled as the wheel turned.

“Alice, for thirty-five thousand dollars, you’ll have to unscramble an eight letter long word in fifteen seconds.”

Two stagehands rolled out a large, white sign with a covering on it that obscured the letters underneath.

“Are you ready?”

“Yes!”

The cover dropped to reveal the letters ZPCTHUHA.

Captcha. No, that’s not right. Hmmm.

“Ten seconds.”

Putz. Too short. Huh… that’s kinda funny. Focus!

“Five seconds.”
