and it's boring as Hell.

An hour into the drive and Regan is basically climbing the walls. Pacing back and forth, sitting down, getting back up to pace some more. It's not exactly annoying but you're trying to read, and she's often flitting about your peripheral vision. Eventually Dan goes on the bus pager system.
"Hey uh, little lady, we're gonna be hitting the gravel for a few hours in not too long, I'd suggest getting some sleep while you can, damn near impossible when we're all bumpin' around. Same goes for you too, Xander."
You look at your sister, raising an eyebrow. Regan sighs and lies down across a few of the seats, using her purse as a pillow.

A few minutes later she's out like a light. You're sorta just sitting there and looking around, and your eyes fall on the bus driver. Ah hell, may as well chat with him to kill some time. You make your way up and start engaging in small talk.
Eventually that small talk leads to bigger talk, and then you're telling him your life story, about how your parents died, about how you worked for you and sister to have this opportunity, and more besides. Talking to him just feels right, it feels like he gets you, he's immensely understanding, almost like he's been through it himself.

"You're a good kid, Xander, you deserve better than what's happened to ya..." You smile and thank him, he nods, but looks a little bit pensive. He's lost in thought for a while, the both of you sit watching the quickly darkening road.

"Why don't you get some sleep, kid. You're gonna have a big day tomorrow, I just know it."
You smile and thank him as you make you way back up the aisle of the bus.
"Just remember! Don't overthink things, it's that simple, ya hear?"

You just smile and nod at the cryptic advice, too tired quite suddenly to really pay it much mind. You snuggle into your travel blanket and pillow and are out like a light.
