Chapter 15 by fantaghiro

How can Chase make Valeria more useful?

a different Valerie

Chase smiled quietly, confident in his growing control over Valeria’s mind. He thought about the satisfaction he got from watching his own mother, Kendra, be subservient to him.

Maybe it was time to begin molding Valeria into someone totally dependent on him. He would plant new some ideas, carefully weaving a narrative where Valeria would choose to become his devoted maid.

“You know, Valeria,” Chase began softly “there’s a kind of peace and purpose in serving someone who truly understands you. It’s not about weakness, but trust… and loyalty.”

Valeria blinked, her eyes reflecting a mix of confusion and curiosity. “Loyalty… trust,” she murmured.

Chase smiled and leaned closer. “Imagine how satisfying it would be to have a place where everything is orderly, cared for — where your efforts make a real difference in someone’s life. What if that place was here, with me?”

She still seemed hesitant. "with you?"

"Yes, with me," he continued. "Think about the level of control serving someone else would give. You would know your exact role and responsibilities. You could easily master all the skills you needed. No pressure of trying to fake your way as a doctor, pretending to be someone you're not. Remember all the pressure of being Dr. Valeria Rivera. It was so overwhelming keeping up that fraud. Don't you want to have a more relaxing life, one where you don't have to fake it anymore?"

"Yes," she responded, sounding **** again.

"Think of Kendra, my maid. She's happy and content, knowing what her role is - her place in the world. She doesn't have all the stress of patients and students, of having to constantly studying to improve herself. She doesn't have to keep up appearances and try to please everyone. Instead all she has to do is please one person, her employer - me. That's it. It's so much easier. No worries, just focusing on the tasks she knows. Isn't her life much better than yours? Wouldn't you like to be her? To be a maid? To be MY maid? To be free from the frustrations of Dr. Valeria Rivera. To be content?"

"I want to be free and content," she responded, seeming to draw the connection between those feelings and the idea of service.

Chase continued in this vein for awhile, reinforcing the idea that this was her choice. He was patient. He had planted the seed of desire—soon, Valeria wouldn’t just serve him; she would want to.

Chase smiled to himself as he guided Valeria deeper into her new identity. He wanted to push her one step further today. He gently suggested that embracing this transformation would be easier — and more fulfilling — if she took on a new name, one that reflected this fresh start.

“Valeria,” he said softly, continuing the session “sometimes a new path calls for a new name. Something that fits who you are becoming. How do you feel about ‘Valerie’? It’s familiar but fresh. A name for someone who chooses her own place, her own purpose.”

Valeria hesitated briefly, then nodded, the suggestion feeling right deep down. “Valerie…” she repeated quietly, testing the sound.

“Yes,” Chase encouraged, “Valerie — the woman who serves with pride, who finds satisfaction in her role, who belongs. Valerie the maid.”

"Valerie..." she accepted.

Time to wrap up, he thought.

"When you leave today you'll feel like you've found a new purpose. From now own you'll find pleasure and a strong sense of accomplishment from small behaviors that Valerie would do. Organizing things around the home, preparing meals with care, cleaning and keeping things tidy. The satisfaction you get from that is more than you feel from anything else. In comparison, your work as a doctor makes you miserable. Deep inside you know that you're a fraud in that job, struggling to keep up the pretense. More and more you'll find ways to begin distancing yourself from that job - that life. You'll even being signing notes and answering calls with the name Valerie. And each time you do, it makes you feel closer to being her, Valerie the maid."
