Yuu is invited to an interview

Using his powers, you identified the likeliest place for well-connected men and women of power to gather, people who would be amenable to your point of view and thus whom you could easily influence with your powers. You went straight to the place to make your application, finding yourself at a modestly sized two-storied building with an older Meiji-era aesthetic.

A quasi-western styled building, constructed in a time when Japan was just opening to the West, it was constructed of bricks and japanese-styled roofing tiles, mixing renaissance revival and traditional Japanese architectural traits. The interior consisted of a common dining area and countertop facing the kitchen at the first floor, the menu displayed on wooden boards overhead. On a nearby corner shelf, a little shinto shrine stood tall, meticulously cleaned for countless years.

Early in the evening, the izakaya was just beginning to open its doors, and he was quickly greeted by a young girl of twenty years dressed in work uniform, a white cloth tied over her head.

"Irashaimasse!" She greeted, "Table for how many?"

"Oh no, I'm not here as a customer," You quickly corrected, "I'm here to apply for a part-time job."

"Oh, I see. Pardon my mistake. One moment while I inform the Tenchou (Manager)," The waitress bowed and left.

Before long, she returned with a middle-aged man, bald with prominent wrinkles and severe-looking. His eyes were very narrow, his demeanor stoic and grim, and he eyed you with an inquisitive gaze.

"I'm Akita Toushirou, Tenchou of Izakaya Akita," The man greeted, his voice deep and gruff, "You the new hire?"

"Yes, I'm Ebinuma Yuu, pleasure to make your acquaintance," You greeted politely.

"Mm. Follow me," Said Toushirou, "Akane, fetch an employment form."

You followed him to the back, borrowing a little private room where Toushirou and Akane sat opposite you on a low table, the tatami mats providing insulation and the floor cushions offering a comfy seat.

"So as I said earlier, I'm Akita Toushirou, Tenchou of Izakaya Akita, and Akane here's my daughter," The manager introduced.

"Hajimemashite," Akane bowed, "Please fill out this form while my father interviews you."

You grab the offered pen and paper and begin filling out the blanks.

"You work part-time before?" Asked Toushirou.

"No, this is my first job ever," You answered.

"So no prior work experience. You okay with any kind of work?"

"I have handled housekeeping before, and cooked a few times."

"When can you start work?"

"As soon as possible."

"Mm," Toushirou nodded, "Are you alright with starting work tomorrow?"

"Of course I can," You answered.

"Good. Then I'll be seeing you tomorrow," Toushirou smiled, "Looking forward to working with you, kid."

And as you shook Toushirou's hand, you glance at Akane, who seemed to be surprised at something. A brief glance in her mind reveals the reason why, and you mentally shrug to yourself.

Time to earn your keep and make some connections.
