Chapter 21 by reaper13
But suddenly you are interrupted by …
Your rival
The herald who announced you earlier stomps his staff on the ground again. A clear sign that someone of importance has arrived. Before you can turn around and see who it is, the herald is already calling out the name of the new visitor.
“Presenting Lady Lessia, third princess of the realm and Lord Indirect, count of Felinia!”
“Oh god.” You groan to yourself while rolling your eyes. “Not this guy.”
Lord indirect is a sorcerer like you, a powerful one as well, and is trying to claim your place as most powerful magic wielder in the realm. He’s clearly chasing an unattainable dream, but that doesn’t stop him from already referring to himself as ‘God’s Wrath’. That is YOUR title, not his!
You take a deep breath and turn around to face him. You’re curious why the third princess is even bothering to waste her time with this loser. But when you see their entourage you become furious.
Behind the princess and your rival walk two girls … who have cat ears. That bastard. He must have found out about your spell and is now trying to claim your hard work for himself. If you hadn’t been inside the royal palace right now you would call lighting from the sky this very instant.
But when Lord Indirect sees your foxgirl he gets a similar look of shock and anger.
You walk over to Doe, take her hand and walk to the side with her, granting the princess an audience with her brother.
“Good day to you, brother.” The princess greets him. “Good fortune to you and the best of wishes for our father’s health.”
The princess, Lord Indirect and the two catgirls accompanying them kneel before the prince. God, they even have tails, how tacky.
“Thank you, sister. Lord Indirect. Your wishes for my father’s recovery are appreciated. Would the both of you support me in keeping our country together while he is indisposed?” The prince asks.
The princess stands and says, “Of course, brother. We can ill afford chaos in these trying times.”
Prince Darius smirks and says, “Thanks you. Now could you please explain the appearance of your entourage?”
Princess Lessia steps aside and looks at the sorcerer next to her. Lord Indirect stands up as well and starts talking about the catgirls behind him.
“My prince.” He explains. “I found these creatures on my travels. They come from a distant land and can provide us with plenty of benefits. They would be a great addition to our kingdom. Sadly their people are suffering from a deadly disease. Fear not, for I have found a cure. With your blessing we can bring more of them into our country, improve the strength of our great kingdom and if it pleases you, appoint the title of ‘God’s Wrath’ to me for having done this country such a great service.”
You have difficulty figuring out what to do about his explanation. Your feelings compel you to yell “Bullshit! Your clearly stole my spell and infused cat DNA into human women!”
But blurting out this truth would reveal that he is a more capable sorcerer that he presents himself to be. Perhaps it is better for you to keep quiet and allow him to undersell himself.
“So you cured an illness?” The prince ponders. “There have been plenty of non-magic users in the past who found cures for illnesses. That is not necessarily a great show magical prowess. Besides, even if you required magic to cure these catgirls, their people are from outside this kingdom. Meaning you are not currently using your magic to help my subjects but foreigners. Lord John instead used his magic to create a new species. One found only here and nowhere else. That seems like a far more difficult thing to me to pull off while keeping the interests of the nation in mind. He will retain his title as ‘God’s Wrath’.”
Lord Indirect turns to look at you, his anger difficult to contain as his eyes lit up with magic energy. Then he looks at Doe and the glow in his eyes recedes.
“Really, Darius? All he did was use some magic to deform her ears and grow some tails out of her ass. Underneath those superficial changes she is still fully human.” Lord Indirect says.
Now it was time for your eyes to light up from anger.
You calm yourself and look at your apprentice.
“Doe, show them what you can do.” You tell her.
How does Doe prove herself?
A Bird in the Hand.
Or 'Love thy enemy'
After the war is over you (First name) have to decide the fate of your captive (Last name).
