Your predecessor Miss Wandering

How about your predecessor as history teacher, Miss Wandering. There must be something about why she was sacked so suddenly. Everyone you’ve asked has been ignorant or cagey. Abigail’s given you a plethora of reasons that suggests she doesn’t know which one is true. Several of the girls have asked. You stated your ignorance. They came up with rumours, that sounded improbable. All that intrigues you.

You easily find the standard announcement from the school. Miss Sheri Wandering, history teacher, has left the school. In the same announcement is your appointment. Nothing else. The local papers are quiet. Their gossip pages are filled with St Perpetua trivia, but nothing about Miss Sheri Wandering.

A chat room off it, has the question, but it has only one answer. Another user states that they asked the same question, but it was removed the next day. You notice this question was raised earlier today. Will it be removed later? Has whoever maintains this forum not noticed it’s been asked yet?

And why would they remove it? Don’t answer. Leave it or answer it vague. But remove it completely? Makes no sense.

You look through the school’s website, looking for pictures of Miss Wandering among the staff. There are faces you don’t recognise, but all are old, while everyone has told you that Miss Wandering was your age. There’s even a picture of last year’s history department, there’s Mrs Oversight, there’s Abigail, but where you’d expect Miss Wandering to be there is only a blank space. Yes, the picture appears doctored, as if someone has gone to the effort of removing her from the picture, which doesn’t make sense. You’re not living in the Soviet Union.

It feels weird. There’s a mystery here and you can’t make head nor tail of it.
