Chapter 5

How do you fight the Cyclopses
Your plan, hide and shoot
You pull your long bow out and mouth "trust me" to your companion and scurry into the brush beside the spring. You hear Gatta draw her greatsword and call out, "Coward!" You like to think it's directed towards the rumbling treeline rather towards you. You train your bow at the shaking trees until two figures crash into view.
Striding forward are the pair of Cyclopses you've been after. Both roughly 8 feet tall, a one-eyed man and a woman stand completely naked and holding large rough hewn wooden clubs. Their appearances are strangely normal aside from the single giant eye that looms above their noses, hell you might even call the woman attractive if you were so scared. You expected them to be a bit larger, although judging by how they knocked down the trees in their path you know they have supernatural strength. Your inspection of them is cut short by your companion shouting a rage filled warcry attracting the monsters. You see them lumber toward Gatta and you aim your shot. Just as the male Cyclops raises his club to swing you sink and arrow into his arm, catching him by surprise and ruining his attack. Gatta takes advantage of the opening and swings into his leg, deeply cutting his thigh and eliciting a loud shout. Quickly dancing away Gatta barely evades a blow the second Cyclops. As the male rises to his feet you plug an arrow into the shoulder of the female, but it doesn't go deep enough as she is able to deflect the incoming strike of Gatta's blade. You quickly reposition yourself to try and get a better, more stealthy shot at the male Cyclops before his next attack. As he clutches his leg he hoists his club up and brings it down onto Gatta, her blade absorbing the worst of the blow. You send an arrow into his side, opening up another chance for Gatta who throws back the club and brings her sword down into his shoulder. The Cyclopses have seen enough of your arrows to maneuver themselves on the opposite side of Gatta so you judge it's time to come out of hiding to make these shots count. As Gatta is freeing her blade the female Cyclops raisers her club again and you try to counter with another shot. You watch dismayed as it goes wide and the Cyclops strikes Gatta in her side, knocking her into the heavily hurt male Cyclops. You can't afford another miss so you run in closer. While Gatta is springing to her feet you see the male Cyclops make one last feeble attempt to overcome it's injuries and strike the Half-orc. You take aim on the run and score a direct hit into its eye, putting it down for good. You shout in elation, inadvertently drawing Gatta's attention for a moment. Your joy is short lived as the remaining Cyclops sees the gap in Gatta's attention and brings another heavy club down squarely onto her. Gatta screams in pain as she tries to raise herself to attack but switches to brace herself against the cyclops's raised club once again. You fire your arrow once more in a **** attempt to stop the incoming strike but you look in horror as the arrow merely grazes the club hand of the Cyclops as she thunders down on Gatta. The Half-Orc's block isn't enough and the club strike puts Gatta limply on the ground.
You cry out in horror as you fumble for another arrow but that only alerts the Cyclops to your presence. She sprints toward you faster than you thought possible as you fire a fruitless arrow that sinks into her club. You brace yourself for the coming Impact as her meaty fist comes down on your head, rendering you ****.
Where do you awaken?
