Your first day of the internship

You couldn’t help feel sorry for yourself on your first day of your internship. While some of your friends were able to land positions with Nike, Twitter and the local minor league baseball team. But as annoyed as you were, you decided to give it your best shot and walked into the cafe wearing your best khakis and a polo and approached the barista behind the counter.

“Hi, my name is Alex and I am starting an internship here today. I was told to ask for a Ms. DeMorgan.”

“Oh hi! Let me go get her!” The girl turns around and takes a couple of steps before turning back to you and saying, “where are my manners?! I’m Lily! I’m excited to have someone else working here!” And with that she quickly made her way to the back office.

While you waited you took some time to check out the cafe. It seemed like a pretty standard coffee shop, perhaps just a tad more hipster then a Starbucks.

“Hello Alex, I am Ms. DeMorgan, it is a pleasure to welcome you to Origins Cafe! For your internship you will be spending most of your time shadowing Lily, but I’ll make sure to spend some time with you as well! Now, what is your favorite Origins’ drink?”

“Well....I uh, I haven’t really tried any” you stammered.

Ms. DeMorgan frowned at you before saying, “well let’s go ahead and change that. Here is the drink that made me want to start my own shop. A soy latte.”

As you started to sip the drink you really didn’t enjoy it. Why couldn’t they have got chocolate on the menu? But what else could you say?

“Thank you so much. It is great.”
