Chapter 31 by korook korook

What do they decide to look for?

Your evaluation file.

They open up the overall evaluation from your profile. This was made at the end of tryouts, to decide whether or not you’d make it into the ECL.

John demonstrates aptitude in basic fighting forms and excellent sexual skills, along with a great deal of ambition and drive to succeed,” it reads. “He shows the most promise of not just our current set of prospects, but of many who have come before him.

However, the drawback—if it can really be called that—of his all-around competency is that no single aspect of his style stands out above the others. And while his figure (and endowment) are impressive, they are not enough to build a persona on their own. In essence, he will be difficult to sell to the audience.

However, should he decide to specialize in one particular style, pull off some sort of dramatic success to boost his profile, or improve his performance and crowd-work skills to a great degree, this issue could be remedied—and John would undoubtedly become a formidable **** in the ring and a great draw for the fans. I’m recommending him for advancement to the training program.

—AZ”

You’ve seen this before, and been told the same thing by your trainers, but your fellow fighters are reading it for the first time.

Kayla nods calmly, as if she’s not seeing anything out of the ordinary. Knowing her, it wouldn’t surprise you if she’d already watched you fight and done an analysis of her own.

Dinah and Angelica glance at you, and then at each other. They don’t look affronted at the praise to your skills over their own; their experience outstrips yours—sometimes literally—by far, and they seem to know that natural talent can’t quite take you all the way.

Speaking of natural talent, Melody just leans back in her seat with an oddly determined expression.

“Alright, show’s over,” you say, snatching your phone out of Kayla’s hand as she yelps in protest. “This has been fun, but I’m not giving you any more inside knowledge on how to beat me.”

“Oh, all right,” she pouts. “Still, this has been pretty enlightening.”

“Yeah...” Melody nods absently, before snapping back to reality. “Hey, thanks for playing with us, John.”

“Anytime,” you reply genially as the five of you wander off to find other entertainment.
