You pick up an envelope that’s been sitting out for a while. Bills.

You have rent due soon, and you’ve had rent due for a while, but it’s been hard to make ends meet lately. You’d just started a new job, so you were hoping you could work something out with your landlord, just until you got paid. He had been nice so far, although it seemed his patience was wearing out with each month that the rent came up short or late. Last month he had issued a warning.

“You seem like a nice girl, but I’m expecting next month’s rent in full.”
