Chapter 45 by Jack.smith Jack.smith

The Small Council

Your First Council

You entered the small council and there was again more chaos your rule had only just begun but with your **** and resurrection nothing was simple and none of the positions of state had been filled. The bickering continued even though you had entered the room and nothing would be done with the room like this.

"Silence!" You commanded slamming a fist onto the table with a large whack. You still hadn't gotten used to your new strength and felt like anything not solid could collapse under your weight.

"I know the past few days have been chaotic and I apologise for that but we must get the council sorted and we must sort out who will sit upon this council," You said there were many men in the room that wouldn't be here in calmer times and you needed to simplify the few dozen men in the room down to around ten so that you could deal with the matters at hand.

First you had to pick a hand and there was an obvious and less obvious choice. Your first choice was Davos he had been your father's hand and keeping the same hand would keep the continuity during the succession. However Davos was barely a lord and the others around the table would take it as a huge insult if he was chosen above them. The choice you didn't want to make was that Mace Tyrell was the only true candidate. Would he be good in the role no but, his men made up almost three quarters of your strength and without his support your reign would not be a long one.

The men around the table looked at you as you were stirring up the options in your head. "I owe my crown to one man above all and without his support and the love of his daughter I would not be here standing with you today, Mace Tyrell I name you Hand of the King."

"You honour me your grace," Mace Tyrell said as Pycelle handed him the hand's necklace and the hand's pin.

You reaffirmed Pycelle in his position and pardoned him for any crimes that he may have been accused of for sitting on the Lannister council.

You still wanted Davos around as he would be a vital ally on the council that was likely to be filled with Tyrell bannermen. "Lord Seaworth, I pronounce you as Master of Ships," You said looking around the room as men gave both yourself and him dirty looks.

You gave out other titles to mostly Tyrell bannerman and a few Stormlands where it fit best before getting to your Kingsguard.

"Where is Ser Barristen?" You asked looking around the room for the old Knight.

"He was umm dismissed from service by the false King Joffrey, your grace," Lord Randyll Tarly said your new Master of War.

"I want him found and I want him to be reinstated as the head of my Kingsguard," You said and moved onto your last act in your first meeting of the small council.

She had been hiding in the corner of the room but her presence was always felt. Melisandre whose ritual had brought you back from the dead and birthed the three dragons could be of more use than anyone else in your conquest of the rebellious Kingdoms you were still at war with. "Melisandre, you have performed feats that all of us in this room do not understand and your power can't be understated, you are foreign to these lands but even so I believe your insight is critical to our effort to reunite the Kingdoms."

"Aye!" A chant broke out much to your surprise amongst the men in the council room who having witnessed your resurrection would no longer question the Red Lady. "I name you Master of the Higher Mysteries," You said before dismissing the lords who had not been given higher posistions within the council.
