Your Coworker, Paul...

"Hey Sarah." you hear someone say as you bite into one of your sandwiches, "Mind if I join you, no one seems to be up for cards today." Paul comes into view and plops on down across from you with two sandwiches himself. Usually a couple of your coworkers get together during lunch to play Euchre or something but not today it seems. You've hung out with Paul a few times when you first started here 2 years ago, ever since then he's acted like you guys were best friends, in reality he irritates you usually with his poor work ethic, more or less sitting down acting like he's work rather than actually working. But you admit you've had a few good times playing some tabletop games with him & his buddies, plus a time or two of playing some party games on his Switch setup in his living room.

"Sure." you say after swallowing your food. You guys chit chat for the duration of Lunch as you finish your food. Before you guys get up to leave he asks you a question, "Hey I just got some new characters on Smash Bros the other day, wanna come by after work and play a few rounds? I'll pick up some beers and pizza, I might even be able to get us a third & fourth for some teams." you ponder on his invite, on an ordinary day it'd seem normal, but things aren't normal are they...? Finally you tell him, "I'll let you know before the day's up, I think I had something lined up already, let me check on that and I'll get back to you." he nods and you both head on back to the shop floor to resume your day.
