Your Company ID is a phone app

"Perfect," Lisa said with a smile. "Now, we need to get you your employee ID. Do you happen to have a smart phone?"

"Um... I guess," you said, rummaging around in your purse until you found the EDNA connected phone. "You mean like this?"

"Exactly!" Lisa said, beaming. "Uh... is that an iPhone or an Android? You'll need to install an app."

"Install an app?" you repeated. "What for?"

"We use it as an employee ID, key card, etc. It's much more secure," Lisa answered.

"Uh... What app?" you asked, re-awakening the phone.

"It's 'EmployeeID'," Lisa said.

"You want 'EmployeeID' installed on my phone?" you asked.

EDNA's voice immediately piped up. "Installing...." After several moments, EDNA said, "App Installed." You opened the newly installed app and it greeted you with a dialog box asking for a security string. You looked at Lisa, a little confused.

"Great!" Lisa said. "Now I need you to key in the following sequence..." She rambled off a nonsensical string of letters and numbers, which you dutifully typed into the phone. The app chirped, telling you, "Security String Accepted! Welcome aboard, Jane!"

As you looked at the screen, you saw another dialog box overlay the app's, "Employment confirmed... Accessing...." You glared at the phone, shaking it slightly.

"EDNA!" you whispered under y our breath.

"This is cutting edge tech," Lisa said, with a smile. "It grants access to the building, notes location, accesses your calendar, it's pretty amazing!"

"I'm sure," you told her.

Lisa picked up her phone, and dialed a number, "Wendy? Yeah, I'm done with Jane. Could you come escort her to her new desk? Thanks!"

She hung up the phone. "Wendy will be here in a few minutes. Welcome aboard!"
