Chapter 18 by Yabusa Yabusa

What experiments to run with your new armored suit?

You want to include the nanites

"How is this possible?" one of the scientists asked. It was directed toward Dr. Brooks, frustrating you since you were right there. "Without calibrating Tina further, by all accounts, a normal person should be crushed wearing her! I thought we were years away on that."

Your new organic, living armor was indeed gripping very tightly, mostly around the midsection. But you were able to counteract with both Zoe's own compression abilities and Chloe's slime enhancing Emily's body's musculature at the core of yourself. Essentially, the only way you could survive Tina--and in fact make it look not only survivable, but effortless--was the combination of bodies.

"Gentlemen, please." You said, stepping forward before Dr. Brooks could respond. "Tina, can you cover up a little further? Like how you were when I first came in." You felt Tina's plates slide along her body, as she sealed up around your legs and waist. The plates extended along your arms, and soon you were encased in her up to your neck. It was even tighter like this, Tina had an immense grip on your body, but you still moved quite easily. With her body, there really wasn't much of any bulk at all with the shining blue armor plates covering you.

"Dr. Ternion, I think maybe we should slow down on this, don't you?" A concerned Dr. Brooks said. At this point, going slow was boring, as an idea dawned on you.

"Actually, I don't think we're moving fast enough. It's twenty years since Project Inside Out began with Zoe and Chloe, by five years they were viable to use for their intended purpose. And by the time the program 'shut down' twelve years ago, they were on the cusp of changing everything and then were forgotten for the miniaturized products while you tinkered with nanites and living space suits in isolation." You put a hand on your armored hips, enjoying how naturally you could move in Tina's body, the way she gripped your torso even. Tina seemed to shiver every so often to show her delight in being worn to you, but you didn't let it interrupt your little speech.

"What exactly are you getting at?" Dr. Brooks asked.

"I was the natural evolution of Project Inside Out, just delayed when funding was cut before anyone considered to try anything like me. And I'm going to be what moves these project to the next phase, because I'm the missing link you need." Your eyes pierced Dr. Brooks with your icy gaze, ready to demonstrate just how important you actually were. "You said you can't regulate Tina's pressure, I can. In fact, I can use my biopolymers to connect with her and essentially integrate with her--I can be the mature mind she needs in order to manage herself, since she could use all that Zoe knows for her own benefit. And Chloe's slime provides the healing factor that Lina can't. Zoe's body provides the internal compression that allows for more capacity for Tina's own compression techniques. And it's all managed from a single human core, the brain is linked to all of me right now."

The other scientists exchanged glances, wondering who you really were with everything you'd been saying. Dr. Brooks, however, just seemed resistant to the idea. "This is absurd, Juno. You're asking to turn these projects upside-down with these antics."

"I'm not asking anything. I'm telling you that I can stabilize everything, and your teams can get data on Lina and Tina without having to worry about these tantrums, or their troubles adapting slowly to humans. I can integrate with both of them, and as a singular being, I can help advance this department a decade's worth of work by the end of the month."

A bold claim, indeed, and something you wouldn't make if you didn't have absolute confidence in your abilities. There was nothing to hide away from, not when you saw Lina and Tina and felt a deep sympathy for what they were going through. They needed your help, to lessen the time they had to endure all this, but if they combined with you, you could in theory be the full embodiment of everything that Project Inside Out stood for.

Dr. Brooks couldn't deny the benefits of a sudden lurch forward in a schedule. Delays had hurt the project significantly, with the military threatening funding. The director had only been able to keep everyone at bay for so long, but people on all sides were starting to expect results.

"You can have all the credit," you stated flatly. "I don't care about recognition. Hell, I just gave up identities with long lines of credentials to become who I am now, clearly it's not that important to me. Seeing this through, that's what's important. So, let me work with Lina and Tina, let me see if they'll agree to integrating with me. And then let me get you all the data you need to bring these miracles to market."

Dr. Brooks rubbed his beard as he stared at you. This was perhaps the hardest choice he had to make as a director, whether to let former experiments alter the trajectory of all of his hard work.

How does Dr. Brooks respond?
