You turn around

You decide to turn the ship around in order to make it harder for the pirates - with the additional benefit of them starting to hit each other out of mere accident. However you are getting shots from all directions, and the shield can only hold out for so long. In the end, your ship is blown to pieces, alongside with you, as you stand on the bridge motionless.
