Your mother Matsudate Misaki is a 36 year old woman born and raised in Tokyo. She is enjoying her stay in the quiet peaceful countryside "Yukigakure is such a beautiful village I don't understand why your father refused to return."

"I don't understand either."

You haven't told your mother about your grandfather's proposal because she'll surely raise a fuss about it. You're her little baby boy she'll never consent to you having kids at your age. You let her enjoy her winter vacation in Yukigakure while considering your grandfather's proposal in secret.

In winter the days are short and the nights are long. You opt to explore the village while there's still sunlight.

You meet a cute high schoolgirl with brunette hair while exploring the village. Her name is Tachibana Maki and she's 18 year old "I wish I lived in a big city like Tokyo. It's so boring in the village there's nothing to do."

"I'm enjoying the peace and quiet."

"You'll get bored very soon. Nothing cool ever happens in Yukigakure" Maki is fed up with her present life and wants to leave the village and move to the cities. She asks you many questions about living in a big city that you try to answer.

"Can I tell you secret Akito-kun?"

"Sure."

"I'm planning to run away from the village after winter. I want to live in a big city like Tokyo and never come back here again. I'm tired of this village and its people and their Orochi-sama."

"Orochi-sama?"

"A stupid story about a giant white snake that lives under the mountain and wants us to make babies. It's so stupid I don't understand how anyone believes it!"

You explore other parts of the village after your conversation with Tachibana Maki. You meet a short brunette haired woman in the only inn in the village. Her name is Shiwa Hinako. She's a 21 year old journalist for a small newspaper in Yokohama

"I'm doing a feature on old folk religions in the Japanese countryside. A friend told me about Orochi-sama and I thought it was very interesting."

"How long will you be here Shiwa-san?"

"About a week. Are you a tourist Akito-kun?"

"No I'm visiting family. My grandfather is the village headman."

"I tried to interview him but he said the legend of Orochi-sama isn't for outsiders. Akito-kun can you please do me a favor and ask your grandfather to throw me a bone?"

"I can try."

"Thank you! It'll be a huge help."
