You think you should

The hours pass, you add a black bikini to your attire, it is soft mesh like cloth, oh so soft, you resist the urge to finger yourself as the store continues to be rather busy. A few odd things happen that you don’t understand. First, when the first customer actually tries to buy something, you log into the computer with a password number you couldn’t possibly guess without even really thinking about it, as if you had done it a hundred times before. Second, the next time you look at the desk in the break room, a brown canvas bag you don’t remember seeing before is just sitting there. Then finally is the one that really makes you feel a bit uneasy. At about four o’clock an older guy with a name tag of “Frank” walks in, greets you with “Hi Sarah.” Says he is “Checking the numbers.” Then sets a bag of Taco Bell and a large blue drink on the counter, adding, “I got you lunch. For covering Terri’s shift.” Then walks back into the mall.

You watch him walk away muttering, “Covering Terri’s shift.” Then your eyes go wide, “Oh fuck, am I actually Sarah?” The scent of tacos fills your nose, “Oh that smells good. I should go home. I should go look in that bag. This has to be a dream, right?” What to do. What to do…

Hunger wins. You devour all the yummy tacos, savor the delicious cinnamon twists, and slurp the tangy pop. It helps. The calm of being full washes over you. You watch a couple chat as they shop, you offer to help, they are just browsing, another hour passes. One more hour till close. “Wait. What happens when the store closes? Where is Terri? I should call someone, right? I wonder where that Frank guy went.”

Someone behind you says, “Hi Sarah.”
