You talk with Sarah

She set her bag down and looked around the room. “I can’t believe I actually surprised you.”

“You definitely did.”

She smiled and walked over to me. “I’ve missed you.”

I put my arms around her. “I’ve missed you too.”

She rested her head against my chest for a moment. “I know we’ve been doing this for a while, but sometimes the distance really gets to me. I miss just having you around. Being able to see you whenever I want. Going to get food together. Watching something at night. Even stupid stuff like running errands.”

“I know,” I said.

She looked up at me. “And I hate that I have to plan everything around phone calls and visits. I just want this part to be over.”

“Graduation can’t come soon enough.”

She nodded. “I love you, Ethan. I really do. I know we’re going to get through this. I just miss being with you.”

I pulled her closer. “I love you too.”

For a moment, neither of us said anything.
