Chapter 5
by CLITaurus
Do the vampires have you for dinner or have YOU for dinner?
You survive dinner
Raven leads you down stairs and into a dining room. Around the table are seated three people. At the head of the table is 'The Master' as you know him. To his left is a voluptuous woman with fiery red hair wearing a red dress a few shades lighter than your own. Her lips are painted the same color and as you enter she looks at you with a predatory gleam in her eye and your heart begins to beat faster with fear.
Your heart beat settles somewhat as you tear your eyes from the redhead to the final figure. While all the 'family' is pale this girl, who looks no more than eighteen, is positively white from her hair on down. This girl has the locks of a old woman, not blonde but stark white. Her face is even paler than the others and her eyes are such a pale shade of blue that they are almost white as well. Given the seeming trend of matching hair to dresses you are unsurprised that this girl wears a white dress, whose lacy design gives her the look of a child bride. She looks toward you and gives you a shy smile.
"Well" says the 'Master' "Our guest is here, so we can begin. Before we do allow me to introduce the rest of my household. This is Amanda" he says pointing to the predatory looking redhead "She and Raven are my ... daughters, you might say. And this" he indicates the girl "is Elspeth, a... another guest. Please sit while I serve."
"The first course is borsch" he says serving you a very red soup "Unlike in the old country, where it was made simply from beetroot and vodka, here we have meat. Please eat up, you need your strength"
Despite the colour you need no vampire mind control to begin eating as the heavenly smell reminds you just how hungry you are. As you eat red wine is served, it is an excellent vintage and you find all your previous concerns about 'being' dinner melting away (except when you look at Amanda, who seems to want to have you for after dinner snacks). Still you note that the rest of the household are served from a different bowl and decanter, and there is very little meat in their 'borsch'. You also note that the Master and Raven eat and drink elegantly, Amanda consumes both her 'soup' and 'wine' with gusto, and Elspeth hardly touches either and finishes last despite having been served the least. The main course is pork, and tastes somewhat gamey as if it were wild pig. None of the household eat it, all claiming 'vegetarianism' (or, in the Master's case, the lack of the enzyme necessary to stomach it "It's the same with veal, although for some reason not ham or bacon. It's the processing ... but you don't need to know that, enjoy yourself.") None of them touch the wild berries and jelly either, although that doesn't stop you.
By the time you finish dinner you are convinced that these people are either vampires doing a poor job of convincing you they are not, or master hypnotists with a weird vampire fetish and a profound lack of sunlight. You're leaning toward the first.
The Master shows you to your room which seems to have been recently cleaned. It is a beautiful room all decked out in furnishings and bedspreads the same color as your dress.
"There is a nightgown in the wardrobe" says the Master "Good Night. I hope you sleep well."
He closes the door behind you and you feel your will become your own. You check the door and are surprised to find it unlocked.
Try to escape or go to bed?
