You prepare for the fight

The main door opened a few minutes later, just enough for Dina to have been able to clean herself up after. She grabbed her battle rifle, a sleek looking hyperheated plasma weapon decorated in the same colors as her outfit. She was the first one to go down from the ship. Just a brief moment after, Olga and Jessica followed her. The blonde with a long antimateriel sniper rifle, made to punch holes through the enemy armor, and the latter with a minigun, to eliminate enemy infantry, even if you were quite sure you never saw them... or perhaps the minigun had some sort of special ammunition? You'd have to ask Jessica later.

It was a rather balanced team, with the capacity to fight pretty much anything the aliens had.

And then there were the three men, including you. All of you wore an antifrag vest over your uniform, a pistol, plus binoculars and radios to help with recon. That was your role as handlers, give them both power and instructions, trying to stay away from danger. The girls were the ones that were in the frontlines... so of course you were a bit worried for Dina and the others. They might be Valkyries, but they weren't invulnerable.

The ship's engines rumbled as it took to the sky again, you followed the Valkyries for a couple hundred meters, and then you stopped.

The ground had a bright orange tone, and the sky was on it's bluest. The unlimited expanse of australian soil extended towards the horizon in every direction. If you weren't so busy fighting a war, you'd probably think about bringing Dina here on a bit of a vacation.

"So, um..." Ted started talking as you walked, a bit behind the Valkyries. "We never decided on a squad hierarchy, right?"

That seemed to be an oversight from the commander... or perhaps he wanted you to figure it out on the field? It was a bit strange, though.

"The girls follow Dina as their leader." Karl noted, looking at them. They weren't talking that much, but it was clear that both Olga and Jessica seemed to follow her implicit commands.

"Fuck them" He almost shouted. "They follow our orders, so we are the ones that should be establishing a captain." He pointed at himself, because of course he had to. "And that should be me. After all, I'm the one with the best ideas, and the best looking Valkyrie."

"And why not him?" Karl made a head gesture towards you. "The girls follow his Valkyrie, so he could be the captain."

"Ugh... but he's..." Ted looked at you, letting out a loud sigh. "Well, what do you think? Should I lead or you? I mean, if you want to, and Karl supports you, then it's democracy, right?"
