Chapter 9 by v9 v9

How to solve a problem like Jenna?

You plan and prepare for when Jenna wakes.

Since the **** and female mage doesn't seem to be waking any time soon you take time to consider your options and decide to lay a trap for further interlopers. You figure you have some time before the next adventurer party of tomb raiders come through and have to hope that they won't be too high a level for you to deal with. In your previous experience as a generic skeleton you know it was usually levels 1-5 heroes in this area. The higher level cleric and barbarian you had encountered earlier were the exception, not the rule.

You take the bow from the skeleton that had been holding it and examine the weapon. The bow is finely crafted with eleven runes inscribed into it, these runes give the bow increased accuracy, greater damage and inflict blindness to whomever it strikes. That partially explains to you why Alex the barbarian panicked during your earlier scuffle. You notice that as a monster you automatically spawn arrows and decide to keep hold of it.

You summon more skeletons and leave them with appropriate commands to attack when any live people other than Jenna are detected. The room is 10x10 with two open doors at opposite ends, you extinguish most of the torches leaving the room mainly in shadows. With your initial preparations made you leave Jenna the mage alive as bait but search through her backpack finding some spare hooded robes one of which you put on, you also find some rope which you use tie her up. You tear a strip from the bottom of the robe she is still wearing and use it to gag her mouth.

With these final preparations made you wait, which isn't hard for you or your brethren to do. You pass the time contemplating what your goal is, is it to just stop heroes entering these crypts? You could find the entrances and block them up. Is it to take **** on the heroes who had desecrated the tombs? You could hunt them down and kill them. Is it to kill all the living, create a world of undeath where the undead are eternally at peace? It would be nice but hadn't it been tried many times before and each time a champion of life had defeated the bringer of ****. You could teach the living to respect the dead and leave them in peace but you couldn't talk to them and even if you could you doubted they would listen. You could hunt down the assholes of the world but would you be the judge, jury and executioner? Suddenly the responsibility of self determination weighs heavily on your thin skeletal shoulders. Maybe the best thing to do is explore the world and grow in power so that you are in a position to influence it when you decide what kind of monster you were going to be.

Your reflections on your existence are interupted when you notice that Jenna has awoken, she was clearly terrified and trying to scream through her gag. In her panic she didn't realise that she has been at your mercy and if you had wanted to kill her then you had had plenty of time to do it.

You approach your helpless captive and lower your hood to let her view your skull, she doesn't recognise your features as those of the skull that she'd callously used on her staff. You remove your jawbone and place a piece of wood under where your chin would be. You see her eyes widen as she realises you had been the staff that she had been holding. Her screams redouble and she strains against her bonds. You remove the gag and let her scream in fear for thirty seconds and then replace it. She tries to bite you as you replace the gag but you feel no pain.

Soon you hear feet running and retreat to the darkest shadows to await your prey.

Who enters the room?
