Chapter 36 by v9 v9

Does the road offer safety?

You meet a party of four adventurers on the road but the spriggans are hot on your heels.

You hurriedly look around as the trees clear and find yourself in front of a party of four adventurers, two fighters, a cleric and an archer, fortunately your luck holds out and they all seem to be relatively low level. They turn at your approach but before they attack you shout out "quick, there's a spriggan behind me. It turned me blue!"

"What? They can do that?" Asks one of the fighters sounding confused.

The cleric notices your cock hanging out and comments "dude, did you get an STD from a spriggan?" as he prepares to cast a spell.

Aware that you probably can't defeat these clowns and the spriggans at the same time you turn to face the way you had just come and choosing to ignore the question reply "arm yourselves, they're coming!" as you back into the relevant safety of the group.

Annie bursts from the woods but receives an arrow to her stomach from the archer for her trouble, clutching the arrow she collapses to the ground as seven of the spriggans charge from the treeline while the fighters move to engage. The cleric completes the casting of his spell to increase his strength before joining the fray with an incomprehensible yell to an unknown god (or goddess). Loitering at the back you put away your manhood before casting summon undead (but nothing happens as there is nothing you are able to summon within range), you cast your touch of decay and spectral axe but choose not to cast fear due to the uncertainty of whether it would affect your new temporary allies. One of the spriggans leaps for you in a flurry of claws, your axe gives you a much greater range and you take a step back after each swing to keep out of reach of the monster . "Give me your seed!" she demands as your axe chops into her like a lumberjack felling a tree, steadily dropping her health bar. "Normally I'd love to but something tells me it would be my last performance and I've only just rediscovered life" you reply.

The spriggan give a piercing shreak and enters into a frenzied state but as it leaps towards you finish it off with a swing with your axe which throws it back onto the ground like a baseball bat smashing a pumpkin. You have no time to revel in your victory as an impact throws you to the ground, claws scratch at your armour as the spriggan which has knocked you to the ground cries out "give me your seed!" as it tries to bite your face. A spiked tongue slowly extends from its gaping maw, you dispel your axe and grab the tongue turning your attackers shrieks of fury to those of pain as your touch of decay takes affect. The spriggan pulls away but you hold on with both hands, it claws at you like a cornered injured animal while it attempts to flee, as it yanks back you let go and it falls back onto the ground in agony. You summon your axe again as you regain your feet and dispatch your adversary with a coup de grace.

Alert to further danger you scan the area to assess the situation, Annie is still down, **** or dead. The cleric and one of the fighters are down but there are only three spriggans left, the archer is on the ground struggling with a spriggan demanding his seed while the fighter swings his sword at the two remaining spriggan circling him.

You watch the spriggan attacking the prone archer and wait until his lifebar is nearly depleted then taking your time to aim you strike the spriggan on its head. It takes a few swings but you defeat it, the archer looks up at you with relief but his expression turns to horror as you "accidentally" bring the axe down again and smash his skull open. It was a cheap shot, but hardened by the loss of Jack and the fact this asshole shot Annie you feel these "heroes" don't deserve mercy (at least the males don't right now).

The remaining fighter is being overwhelmed by his two assailants but he looks determined to fight on. Taking a moment to pick up a stray thick wooden branch you step behind him and knock him ****, he collapses to the ground and the two spriggan stop their attack, stunned by your betrayal.

You decide that this is a time for diplomacy, you will your touch of decay to begin to dissolve the branch you are holding, then summoning the Power you begin to speak to the wary tree/women hybrids "I hope you understand me, I am not one who you can use, my touch or seed would destroy you, but take this warrior as a peace offering and do with him what you will, share him with your sisters when they respawn. I hope that in time we can be allies and we do not repeat the mistake that our battle has been. If in future you give me and any party I am with safe passage through your forests I will provide you with new men from whom you can take fresh seed to make your people strong." Your touch of decay makes the branch brittle enough that it splinters in your hand "or fight me and suffer."

The two spriggan sway as they listen to you, they don't look at each other yet the branches on their bodies twist and turn as they seem to communicate with each other until they finally reach an agreement, one of them snaps off a branch from its head and quickly molds it in its hands before placing a newly created bracelet of thorns on the ground in front of it. Then between them they drag the **** fighter into the trees.

With a sense of deja vu you move beside Annie to check whether she's still alive after her flight from spriggans and a bear before being shot.

Is Annie ok?
