"...yes, I wish for good enough combat skills to humiliate this asshole, and potentially impress some girls," he wished quietly to her, adding the last part to add the sexual component. She nodded and discreetely snapped her fingers under her desk and Jaune headed down to the battle area, grabbing his shield and sword as he did.

Cardin was already waiting, wearing a smug and confident grin and he idly swung his mace about. "Remember, the match will end when one of your Auras reaches red, and the one who does will be deemed the loser. We don't want accidents," Goodwitch said, before starting the fight. Cardin immediately charged at Jaune, mace raised high, intending to overwhelm Jaune with a brutal offensive before he could even ready himself. Jaune pretended to act scared, before grinning, and choosing the last moment to take a step forward, and inside Cardin's reach just as he swung down, missing Jaune entirely, and Jaune rammed his shield directly into Cardin's torso.

Cardin grunted as he was knocked flat on his ass, and before he could recover, Jaune smoothly swung his blade, the edge striking Cardin right in the face, and sent him skidding back, only uncut due to his Aura, but that didn't stop his pain receptors from registering the damage he would have otherwise taken. Aura had that as an automatic response for the same reasons people felt pain normally.

Cardin quickly rolled away from Jaune's next blow, using his momentum to get back onto his feet. "...okay, no more messing around!" he seethed, charging Jaune again, with more savagery in his movements. He swung his mace rapidly, but Jaune sidestepped each blow casually. Cardin got more and more frustrated with each swing, and when he stopped to pant, he looked up, and his face reddened in even more rage. Jaune was slumped, giving exaggerated snores, clearly acting as if he had literally slept through Cardin's assualt. A vein throbbed on Cardin's temple. "Quit mocking me!" he roared, and charged again, thoroughly enraged. Jaune once again waited until the last second, before sidestepping... and making damn sure to leave his foot in Cardin's path.

Predictably, Cardin tripped, and flailed in a **** attempt to regain his balance, only to get struck in the back by a backhanded swing of Jaune's blade and get sent facefirst to the floor. The crowd of students were roaring with laughter at just how stupid Jaune was making Cardin look. "...done getting your shit together down there?" Jaune asked with a casual shrug, marveling at just how easily his motions and reactions were coming to him now. "Because I'm starting to get bored."

Cardin went red in the face, steam pouring out of his ears in both anger and embarrassment as he got up. "Why you!" he roared, slamming his mace against the floor, making it shake in an attempt to fuck up Jaune's footing. It seemed to work, and Jaune staggered with a yelp, and Cardin dashed forward again, ready to swing. However, Jaune quickly slid his arms out of the straps of the shield, and flung it like a discus right at Cardin's face before he could reach Jaune to take advantage of his off balance state. Cardin took it right on the nose, and was sent flying back, and Jaune wasted no time, running after him, and picking his shield up along the way. Carding rolled upon landing, getting up with a snarl, and glanced up, just in time to see the tip of Jaune's sword coming right for his face. The blow struck, once again what would have been a killing blow if not for Aura. Cardin was flat on his back once more.

"That's the match!" Glynda called, showing the screen that displayed Jaune and Cardin's Auras. Jaune's was still full, and Cardin was clearly in the red.

"...okay, I'm not even going to lie. That. Was. Awesome!" Yang cheered.

"Oh please, it was just one amatuer making a fool out of another, nothing awesome about that," Weiss huffed, unwilling to admit that she was at least mildly impressed.

Cardin punched the ground, seething. He had assumed that Jaune was an easy target for bullying, and yet he had somehow made a fool of him! This would not stand! He got up, mentally swearing **** on Jaune, and ignoring Jaune's outstretched hand, Jaune having offered it in a show of sportsmanship.

Glynda sent the battle video to everyone for them to work on commentary later for class assignments. A few other fights happened, but they didn't really matter as Jaune took his seat, unable to help but grin. Though he did feel it wasn't entirely earned, given he had wished for those skills, but he resolved to make all further gains on his own merits. He accepted a small boost to start off on, but that was as far as he was willing to take it.
