Chapter 6 by Orlog4 Orlog4

Do you want to step in and help her or rather mind your own business?

You help her

You sigh. Of course, you can’t just look away. It would be not right. Sister Wool would be terrible disappointed if you even considered leaving this woman to her fate. And it is your job to keep the forest and the people inside save after all. You get up, tighten your clothes and leave your hiding point. The Rat-Pack members and the Bunny don’t recognize you at first.

“Stop struggling stupid rabbit,” the rat with the shirt snarls grinning, “if you give us trouble, my little brother will cut you an everlasting smile in your silly face.”

“Please let me go!” the bunny begs and tries desperately to struggle free, “you don’t need to do this. Just let me go. I will not tell anybody about this.”

“I’m sure you will not, but for a different reason,” another rat chuckles, “you entered Rat-Pack territory. This means you are our now. The boss decides if we keep you as a pet or just for food. You better be nice to us, if you want us to put in a good word for you.”

“Wait a moment, guys, we are not alone,” the third rat-guy suddenly says alarmed, “who the hell are … y-you …”

As soon as you left your hiding spot, and showed yourself the rats get immediately very silent. The one who is closest to you almost drops his knife in shock and even the rabbit woman shivers when she sees you. You can hear their heartbeat and smell their fear. You can use this to your advantage.

“You made a big mistake by coming to my forest, Rat-Pack,” you say threatening and crack your knuckles, “I give you one chance to run away. Leave the rabbit here and never come back. You will not survive another encounter with me.”

“B-brother, you said this is a free area,” one of the rat-guys stutters, “don’t tell me we are in a wolfs territory.”

“We are not, and stop shaking like there's an earthquake here!” the rat with the shirt answers harsh, “we are three and he is alone. You hear me, wolf, this is Rat-Pack territory. Fuck off if you don’t want us to sell your fur as a carpet.”

“You will hand this bunny over, or this is going to be your funeral,” you reply calm but threatening, “leave this forest while you still can.”

“Kill him!” the rat with the shirt hisses and immediately jumps forward.

One of his brothers follows him, while the third rat-guy stays with the captive and holds his knife at her throat. Rat-furries are nimble and agile, at least compared to furries who resemble large or domesticated animals. However, for a hunter like you, it is still possible to follow their movements. And thanks to the village’s guardian militia, you are trained in basic combat too.

You see through the ridiculously executed feint of the attacker with the club very quickly and when the guy with the shirt wants to stab you from the side, you can counter faster than he can react. With a dull sound, your fist crashes into his cheek and the **** of the attack hurls him smoothly against the nearest tree, where he falls to the ground in a daze.

The other rat tries to attack you from behind but he hesitates much too long when he sees his leader down. You use this and deliver a powerful back kick to his chest. The air is pushed out of his lugs and he falls down holding his chest. His club disappears somewhere in the bushes. As expected, the Rat-Pack foot soldiers can’t take much of a beating.

Two are down and the last guy looks like he is about to piss his pants. He literally hides behind his hostage and uses her as some kind of shield. The rabbit woman looks not much braver. The fur in her face is wet from tears.

“Run, little rat, run!” you say and tried to sound like a maniac.

Maybe you overdid it. With a pathetic squeak the rat-guy pushes the bunny in your arms and runs away as if the Archdemons were personally on his heels. The other two guys don’t hesitate to follow him. None of them has the balls to stay even one more moment in the presence of a real predator. You wait a moment until the last rattail disappears behind bushes and trees. Then you take a look at the bunny, who is obviously frightened to ****.

“Mother of mercy, show pity for your servant,” the rabbit woman almost sobs, “please, good wolf, if there is just a little spark of compassion in you, just do it quick.”

You sigh disappointed. She thinks you are a wild animal. One of these beasts from the wild wolf clans’ parents warn their children about. You were already halfway expecting this. These prejudices have been with you all your life. You decide to give her a moment to calm down before you try to talk to her again.

How do you want to proceed with her?
