Chapter 29 by GenocideHeart

How do you reply?

You haven't, but Ceinwyn has

The word 'Akashic' rings quietly in your memory and then the answer comes to you. The Druids.

"Ceinwyn, is that...?" You ask her.

She nods eagerly. "It was from the Druid's Lament. The song for Druids who have moved on. In the song, we make a prayer to the god, Akasha, to watch over them. I'm glad you remembered."

"So, the Akashic records belong to your god?"

"No, Akasha is not our God." The druid shakes her head, "We merely respect and honor him because, unlike other gods, there is definite proof that Akasha truly did exist."

"He was a walking, breathing god, that made his home on the Island of Seven Stones. It is said that he has traveled the entire breadth of the world, to even the continents beyond the Pale Expanse, the oceans west of the Island. They say he has visited grand cities like Tharros, Zatakia, and even Athenapolis, before it had fallen. He went everywhere, learning everything he could, magic, technology, medicine, history, mathematics, anything, if it was a fact, he wanted it; for he was a scholar, you see, and wanted to know about everything that filled the universe."

"And when he finally returned to the Island of Seven Stones, with all the knowledge of the cosmos in his hands, he began to transcribe it. He wrote down every note, every theory, and every fact so that he would never forget. His writings, the transcriptions, are collectively known as the 'Akashic Records', and there are people out there that would sacrifice their firstborn son to access that information."

Tri'lanna deliberately chose to remain silent the entire time, watching the conversation with a sly grin, but now she finally speaks up, saying "Not would, Ceinwyn. Not would. Did. Someone did sacrifice their firstborn son."

A slow, dawning horror creeps up on you. "Vanarim."

The elf nods remorsefully, "Do you know why he is called 'He Who Watches the Door'? Because he is always looking for the way back to the Akashic Records, searching for a chance to open the door again and gain unlimited knowledge. Somehow he managed to use the Akashic Records the first time though offering the life of his only son, and it gave him immense magical power. If he opens the door a second time, he may gain enough knowledge to become a God."

What happens next?
