Chapter 33 by simmaster
So what will you do?
You have an ability for this.
For a moment you panic, but then remember... you have another ability you haven't tried yet. Dark Influence. Let's find out how potent it really is. If you're unlucky, the skeletons will just politely decline your command.
You hold your little arms out and address the approaching undead, yelling "Guys, back off! I order you not to harm this woman!"
To your shock, they actually stop. Instead, they all look down at you, until now having treated you as if you didn't exist.
You decide to make use of their attention while you have it. "Yeah, uh... That's right. Good. Now, go that way!" You point in the direction of the village. "You're bound to find some way better targets over there. You might even run into someone on the way."
The skeletons obediently drag their feet in the direction you assigned them, and soon you are alone with Morwyn.
"Wow... You have some sort of necromancy-thing that lets you tell undead what to do?"
You look down at your hands, feeling truly powerful for the first time ever. "Actually, it extends to all monsters. I didn't think it was that strong, though... Maybe skeletons are just more easily led."
"That's awesome!" Morwyn exclaims, clasping her hands excitedly. "You're turning out to be a really handy little guy, you know that?"
You chuckle nervously at her praise and rub your neck. "Thanks... You're still hurt though."
"Well, now that we're no longer in immediate danger I can cook up a few potions," she says and sits down on the ground by a large rock, using it as a table for her alchemy as she takes her supplies back out of her inventory.
In the meantime, you check your stats. You did level up a few times.

Hm. Only minor improvements. No spells. ...Hold on. There's something more. A flashing indicator that wasn't there before.
Growth Choice Available!
Dark Arcanist: A higher-ranked Dark Caster. Continue down your current path, sacrificing specialization for versatility.
Dark Trickster: Focus your spellcasting on illusions, affecting the minds of your friends and foes to your advantage. You will lose some of your current spells in exchange for more specialized magic, with the purpose of confusing and controlling your victims.
Demonologist: Focus your spellcasting on summoning, banishing and controlling extraplanar entities. You will lose some of your current spells in exchange for more specialized magic, including the ability to summon allies to your side.
...It's what you've wanted all this time. Or well, almost. All three of these are still support classes of some kind. The Demonologist would probably be the most self-reliant, but you'd still be relying on the things you summon. Still, though... You're finally about to become something greater than a Dark Caster. Now it's just a matter of what to choose...
On one hand the Dark Arcanist sounds like it's in your comfort zone. Just... what you have right now, but presumably more. Maybe more height, too! On the other hand, you other two options are probably technically more powerful, just with a less varied arsenal. Dark Trickster would presumably be adding abilities similar to Shadow Trick and Dark Influence, the latter of which had just proven quite useful. Maybe it would allow you to become some sort of puppetmaster down the line? That sure would be nice.
As for Demonologist... As stated it would probably make you less dependent on allies like Morwyn. You could just summon your own allies. That would be handy for if she gets sick of you. And better yet... maybe at some point you get to summon sexy demonesses and compel them to sleep with you? ...Hopefully you can also summon a dick for yourself if that's the case...
Overall, a tricky choice. You could just save it until later, but you're pretty damn eager to be more than you currently are, and the opportunity is right here. So what will it be?
What, indeed?

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
