Ethan took a deep, shuddering breath. There was no way out but through. His fingers went to the knot at his hip, trembling slightly as they worked the frayed fabric loose. "Right, right. The key." She set the phone down on a side table and began opening drawers in a small console near the hallway. She rummaged through one, then another, humming to herself. "I know it's here somewhere…"
