Chapter 82 by Orlog4 Orlog4

What will you do? And for what reason?

You give them something. Because you want to help them.

Your mothers influence on you was much larger than you expected. She always cared for the weak and poor. And despite the fact that these people are basically robbing you, you can’t help but feel sorry for them. They have literally nothing and you don’t have to worry about your financial future. You decide to give them a fair amount of money. Not because you fear them, but because you want to help them and the leader seems reasonable. He will not waste the money on unnecessary things or ****. It isn't that much anyway.

Carefully, to not make the mentally instable homeless guys freak out, you pull out your wallet. You take 50 dollars out of it and offer it the leader. His eyes widen as you show him the money and hold it right in front of him.

“Impressive, little one, how did you get so much money from?” the leader asks shocked, “that’s a lot. But you don’t need to give us everything you have. We are not the gangs. They would take everything. This is more than we need.”

“Well, as I said, I have a home and no financial problem,” you say and still offer the money to the leader, “you can take it. You need it more than I. My mother would have wanted me to help you. So, don’t see it as a robbery. It is a donation.”

“Your mother?” another man who smells like **** asks irritated, “should we know her? Was she one of the street workers?”

“No, she … lived in another town,” you answer quickly, “she cared for others all the time. But you need to stop with threatening people. another person else would probably fight back and then somebody would get hurt.”

“Tell me something new,” a thin guy with a damaged nose and a scar at his mouth mumbles grumpy.

“That’s enough for food for a week and maybe even some basic medicine, if we are frugal,” the leader says speechless, “are you sure you want to give us that much? It is fine if you give us less.”

“I am sure,” you say and nod, “you need it more than I. Please take it and help your people. I have a home, enough food and chances to get more money. My mother would have helped you and so will I.”

“I wish there would be more people in this area like you or your mom,” one of the women mumbles, “but the people who would want to help us can’t leave the community center anymore. Too dangerous.”

“Listen, girl, you are really doing us a favor here,” the leader mumbles and still watches the money unbelieving, “let me at least promise, that we will take it to good use. You have my word. This will not be wasted.”

You nod gratefully. It can’t be wrong to have such a promise. It makes you believe you did not judged the leader wrong. And you helped a group of homeless people. Your mother would be proud. With a good feeling you leave the camp and continue your way to the bus stop.

Is it time to leave the slums?
