You get a phone call

"So, do you have any plans for dinner?" Roxy asks.

"Not really."

"You guys hungry yet, or do you need to work up an appetite?"

You look to Adela but before she can answer, you receive a phone call from the same number you ignored earlier today.

"Oh, I'll just take this." You say.

As you walk away from the table, you accept the call.

"Hello. Oscar Sharpton speaking."

"Oh. hey Oscar

It was Cecilia, Adela's sister.

"Oh hey. What's going on?"

"Just wanted to chat about Adela's birthday. You know it's coming up, right?"

"Yeah." Part of you wants to kick yourself for not answering the call beforehand so you could sneak off and buy Adela a present.

"Well, Mom and Dad and I are planning on getting her a car, so you might wanna get her something to go along with it, like some air fresher or some seat belt covers or something?"

"Oh uh... Thanks for the tip."

"No worries. So how's your day been?"

"Uh good. How are doing with the monkeys?"

Cecilia chuckles. "Uh, well one of them decided my blouse needed a blue paint stripe, but other than that, it's been fine."

"Heh. Well, thanks for the heads up."

"No problem."

"Guess I'll see you around."

"Sure. See you."

You head back to the kitchen to see Adela cutting up vegetables as Roxy pulls out a frying pan from her drawers.

"Who was that?" Adela asks.

"Just a friend."

"You wanna help out?" Roxy asks as she places the pan on her stovetop.

"Uhh, looks pretty crowded there."

"Well I need to pee, so..."

Adela puts the knife down, to which Roxy chuckles. You take Adela's place in cutting up food for Roxy's meal. Soon enough, the three of you are eating at her table, wondering what else will the night hold for you.

After eating, Roxy looks to the two of you and says "So, I guess you guys are gonna stick around?"

"That's the plan." You reply.

A wicked smile lights up Roxy's face. "I was hoping you'd say that."
