Chapter 5
by Bookmite
What do you decide, or maybe you've already decided?
You decide to follow him
With a shrug you tell your guide, "I don't mind waiting a bit, do what you have to do."
He smiles and nods, walking off after the three residents, and you decide to discreetly follow. You did feel a little bad for the deception, but you didn't think he would let you follow if you asked, and you were insanely curious. As he went down various tunnels, you did your best to keep track of him, more by sound than by sight. Eventually you turn a corner and step into a room faintly lit by dim lights, and the eyes of dozens of residents turn towards you.
The room, or cavern would be a more accurate term, was fairly large though not too spacious. Everywhere you looked were various anthros sitting, sleeping, and so on. At the far end of the room was a large television, with a chalkboard next to it, and a small desk. All in all, you would guess it was an approximation of a classroom, right down to the childish colorful drawings on the walls. The dead silence was eerie, especially in these surroundings with so many anthros. Nobody spoke to you, they simply stared.
After a moment you feel a tug on your shirt, and look down to see a small meercat-like anthro who looks up at you and simply says, "Guest?". You can't help but smile, she was adorable, and you see she was flanked by two other identical-looking meercats. Each of them was exactly alike in appearance, but their body language gave away something of their personalities. The one tugging on your shirt seemed the more shy of them, even though she did take the initiative, probably by the urging of the others. One of them had her arms crossed, and looked about ready to pounce; on who you didn't know. The last, well, she currently had her back towards you and was slowly swaying her tail in the air enticingly.
You nod back telling her that yes, you are a guest. The moment you confirm that, however, the room erupts in a series of animalistic sounds and cheering. In an instant you are surrounded on all sides by anthros of all shapes and sizes, all demanding attention and asking questions all at once. You couldn't make heads or tails of who was asking what, or even what was being asked.
There were a few that seemed to stand out to you though. There was one, which looked like some sort of bird. She was very petite, too petite actually. Unlike most of the others, she didn't join in with the others swarming you, and instead stood off to the side. Her light brown feathers were smooth in some places, and fluffy in others, and they offset her beautiful yellow eyes perfectly. Still, those eyes looked... Sad. You watched as she would occasionally open her beak a bit before closing it again and look away shamefully.
Just then a door off to the side opens and someone steps out...
Is it anyone you know?
