You arrive at the camp.

After an hour's walk or so, you arrive at the Roman Legion camp for the area. It may be called a "camp," but this close to Rome it's really a garrison: a large building that serves as a barracks with a couple of outbuildings for officer quarters and workrooms. You can see soldiers drilling in the yard as you approach.

{if Adolphus Companion = true}You turn to Adolphus. "You said the man in charge here was a Centurion Filotus?"

Adolphus nods. "Aye. He's a professional soldier, but he doesn't seem interested in protecting the lands here. Personally, I've always thought him a bit useless...something of a louche. Sir." He scowls slightly. Clearly there's no love lost between the two men.{endif}

{if Albina Companion = true}You turn to Albina. "Do you know anything about the people in charge here?"

She shrugs slightly. "I know the centurion is a man named Sirius Filotus. And that my father thinks very poorly of him...but I don't know much about why." She pauses, looking suddenly thoughtful. "Actually...I do know someone else here, though he's not in charge of anything. A youth about our age named Castor...he's the son of a land manager at one of the nearby estates. Second son, so he's in the Legion now. We knew each other as children, and I heard from his mother that he's been posted here for his first assignment. She was very happy to hear that." You nod thoughtfully.{endif}

{if Polyxena Companion = true}You glance at Polyxena. "I don't suppose you know anything about this legion, do you?"

She looks at you with an arched brow. "Dominus, few masters talk to their slaves about local politics." You sigh and nod.{endif}

"Ave!" one of the guards calls out as you approach the gate. "What's your business here, sir?" Clearly your garb is giving you the weight you'd hoped for, since they're not immediately turning you away.
