What is it?
You all need to talk.
A dark ominous cloud seems to hang above their apartment, and as you draw closer, it feels like there are hundreds of eyes upon you. Selas still hasn't come back, and that terrifies you. Shaking, you reach out to buzz Terri's apartment, but the door unlocks before you even touch the buzzer. Taking a breath, you push through and walk in.
The air in the building is thick and heavy. You could cut through it with a spoon.
And absolutely silent.
Occasionally, apart from your own feet echoing off the walls, you hear sharp intakes of breath and shuffling feet behind doors. But you just can't shake the feeling that they were all waiting for you. Even the elevator light seems to be painting a target on you.
Your knocks on Terri's door sounds like the executioner's drum. It opens for you, but no one is there waiting to greet you on the other side. Swallowing a dry throat, you enter and close behind you, the latch clicking in with the sound of finality.
Terri and Charlie are sitting at their table, both looking like they haven't slept, nursing glasses of water, and either for better or for worse, there's no booze in sight. Trying to clear your throat as quietly as possible, you sit in between them. An uncomfortable silence fills the apartment as all your eyes dart about, shifting from person to person to table.
You can't take anymore and break first. "So, you wanted to talk to me?"
The women exchange a look and Terri nods. "Charlie told me what you two have been doing behind my back, and what happened yesterday."
"And Terri told me what you guys did. I got mad. At both of you," Charlie adds, tapping her thumb on the table. "We had a big fight about it, and uh... we came to a... we have a conclusion."
