You Accept

After a few seconds another wave of vertigo strikes and you're in control again. You sink back into your chair and let out a trembling breath. "That was... Is it like that every time?"

"Like what?" The voice in the ring asks.

"You know, just sort of, unable to move, watching you do whatever?" You ask.

"Actually, normally when I do this at night my host just blacks out for the duration. I can keep you aware if you prefer, but even though I can get rid of your physical need for sleep, psychologically it's still good for your mind to have some off time at the end of the day, at least until you get used to it." The voice in the ring explains.

"Well... okay then. Yes, I'm in." You say. "So how does this work? Do I need to sign my soul away, or make some kind of oath, or what?"

The voice in the ring laughs. "No, nothing like that. It's not a magical contract; it's just an agreement between two people. If you ever have any doubts or second thoughts, just let me know and we can figure something out. Usually my hosts are good for me to take the hours between midnight and eight AM, but I'm pretty flexible if you've got something going on."

"Sounds good to me." You say with a sigh of relief.

"So... any thoughts on what kind of superpowers you'd like? I can usually work something out in a day or two with most of the simple requests, but if you've got something unusual in mind it may take a little longer, depending on what it is."

You take a moment and think about the question. You like the idea of gaining powers but haven't really given much thought to which specific powers you would ask for. "I mean... I don't want to sound greedy... but can you just give me all of them?"
