You; Aubrey

You clicked your glasses together as you both sat in her office. It had been your first day back and now it was time to catch up. You both reminisced about when you interned there in college. You filled each other in on your lives as you shared a nice bottle of whiskey.

Finally, the topic turned to you not taking over. Aubrey was silent for a moment, letting the previous topic have a nice buffer. "Are you sure? You're a real lawyer how. You can take the place over. It's on your dad's will," Aubrey said before refilling your glasses.

"I'm sure. Dad chose you for a reason. Everyone here loves and respects you. Honestly, if I didn't know everyone here, I'd have been worried they'd hate me for already being partner. There's no one I'd rather work under, either, so I want you to keep the position." You also weren't sure if you were ready to take over completely. It was better to have someone here who knew what they were doing and he could learn from them.

"You're such a stubborn man," she sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I remember when you were a nervous intern here. Now you're all confident. You've been a successful lawyer, and you even got married. You've changed a lot."

"Really? I feel like the same person. You certainly haven't changed at all." You refilled your glasses and leaned back on the couch across from her.

"Oh? What about me hasn't changed? I'm sure a saggy old hag like me has definitely worsened for the ware."

"Are you kidding, Aubrey? You're a goddamn bombshell. Both in looks and personality. You can command the hell out of the courtroom and I'm sure you've even noticed the heads you turn.

"Some heads might turn too late. Or maybe I was too late." She set her glass down and folded her hands together.

"What are you talking about?" You asked.

She stood up and walked over to the couch you were on. Aubrey sat next to you, one hans on your knee and the other turning your gaze to meet hers. "Look into my eyes, John."
