You're tired

You reflect to yourself bitterly that all those girls who look up to you see only the power and the prestige of being the iconic superheroine. They don't see the burden it places on you. You are held to a higher standard than any of your male colleagues. They can show weakness without feeling like they've betrayed their entire gender, can fall in love and get married without risking surrender of their authority. And no matter how hard you try, it is never enough. For a while, you believed that if you could just prove yourself, the pressure would slacken and you would have some time to just be a person and not a hero. But no matter how many battles you win, no matter how many crises you avert, the radical feminists and the male supremacists alike just keep pushing you to do more, to keep proving that you deserve to stand side by side with the males at the top of the hero pyramid.

Your powers may make you physically tireless, but they do nothing for mental and emotional exhaustion. At this point, all you want is to give up, to stop struggling to meet a standard that keeps being raised and to let someone else take responsibility for the world and for you. The world kept piling more and more weights on your shoulders and now... you are breaking.
