Chapter 8
by realizingworlds
You've made a deal with a demon. What happens now?
You're brought to Aamon
You do as you are told and head home as quickly as you can, but sleep doesn't come. There's simply too much running through your mind. Part of you can't believe that you would be stupid enough to make a deal with a demon. There are tales upon tales about why you should never do so. Demons are known to use their words in a way to back you into a corner, to trick you into falling into their traps. And you made a very grave error in your deal, you come to realize as the minutes become hours. Astromos never told you what the penalty would be if you couldn't find your sperm donor. Maybe you could assume there is no penalty, but you know better. You have no timeline in which to hunt him down and no idea on how to do so outside of the tracking spell that the demon mentioned. If this spell doesn't work, will they still expect you to hunt him down? And how soon would they want you to find him? Days? Weeks? Months? Even if you did find him, do they want you to just tell them where he is? Do they want you to bring him to them? Or do they want you to complete the dirty work as well by taking a tail?
Would they stop at only one tail though? Your sperm donor, Dai, has been on the run for eighteen years. You imagine that one tail isn't going to make up for how long Aamon has to wait to collect. Would he take more of his tails? Or would he go a step further? You can't imagine the soul of someone as cowardly as your sperm donor would be worth much, but maybe to Aamon it would be worth it... At the very least, he might just take it to make sure that kitsune would never double cross him again.
There was no other choice for you though. Your anger had been too strong, the desire to finally make the bastard who brought you into this life only to deny you pay outweighed any of your self-preservation instincts. Besides, could you have actually said no? What would have stopped Astromos from simply dragging you to Hell right then? You certainly weren't strong enough to fight off whatever magic he had cast on you. They could have taken whatever they needed, gone off to hunt down Dai, and left you with nothing. At least this way, you can at least somewhat benefit from playing along. Astromos had mentioned that Aamon would reward you for your help...
What would you even ask for though? Wealth? Stability? A powerful partner? What do you even want? You know you want to be able to leave the restaurant and the horrible clientele behind. You definitely don't want to be **** to breed with a being you find lesser. But what kind of life do you want to live? As you ponder, you realize you've never thought that far ahead. It's always been one day at a time for you, worrying about where you'll be sleeping or if you'll be able to eat. Deciding where you want to live or what kind of partner you want, if you even want one at all, has never been a priority.
By the time the sun rises, you've got a shaky grasp on what you want and are slightly less fearful about the deal you made. You doubt Aamon will hurt you; he doesn't even know if this tracking spell of his will even work. If it doesn't, he'll probably let you go. If it does... Well, you can settle terms then.
You wander out of your room, sniffing at the air. Kai isn't in the apartment; he must have spent the night with his fiance. But you can smell smoke and coffee. You creep along the hallway, quiet as a mouse, looking for who or what could be behind the scent. Your heart nearly stops when you spot Astromos in your kitchen, nursing a cup of coffee. He gives you a sharp small when he spots you, teeth on full display.
"Morning Little Fox." he says, gesturing towards you with his mug, "Ready to get to work?"
The sight of this demon at your table temporarily makes your brain go dumb. What was he doing there for one? And how the hell did he get into your apartment?! You remember locking the doors behind you, double checking before your restless night in bed.
"Coffee first." you mumble, heading straight for the pot, "Then we'll go."
Astromos does let you have your cup, but... Well, he certainly keeps you to your word. You had planned to get dressed after downing your drink, but the demon clearly had other plans. He stood as soon as your cup hit the sink before grabbing your wrist and summoning a glowing orange portal. You don't have a chance to protest. One moment you're standing in your kitchen, the next you're in another realm.
Hell is... Different than what you expected. It's certainly very hot and flames burn all around you, but there's no sign of the Damned. There's no sinners in the burning pits, therefore no screaming or pleading for mercy. It honestly looks like a mortal realm city, just with buildings made of blood red stone and demons bustling around instead of humans. Most of said demons ignore your presence, but you realize a few have their eyes glued to you. You huff at that, wondering at their blatant rudeness as you follow Astromos into a very large, expensive looking building. You don't realize that they're staring because your attire until you get into an elevator with a large mirror on the back wall. A dark blush crosses your face when you remember you're in a skimpy black tee and pink booty shorts.
Astromos snorts when he sees the expression on your face. "You are a rare sight to behold down here." he says casually, "Most of these demons will never go topside. They've never seen anything like you and most likely never will again."
"Pity." you say, smiling slyly, "I don't imagine they got a very good view from where they were."
"If you'd like, I'm sure another visit could be arranged." he says, trying his best to sound bored. You can see right through it though; his excitement is clear not only in his eyes, but his pants as well.
"I could think of worst creatures to find company with." you say before teasingly running a tail over his growing bulge, "If you play your cards right, I'll let you have first dibs."
There's that toothy grin again. "You're playing with fire there, Little Fox."
"What can I say? I like danger."
Before he can respond, the elevator doors open and you saunter out. You wink at him before looking around, flirting abandoned when you realize it's opened right into a large meeting room at the very top of the building. The ceiling is a glass dome, showing off the bright red sky. Most of the room is empty, but at the end sits a large throne. Two demons stand guard on either side but they don't compare to the massive demon they serve.
Aamon is settled in his throne, his large wolf head resting on one of the arms while his snake tail wraps around the legs underneath. He lifts his head when you enter. A sinister smile crosses his face at the sight of you.
"Well done Astromos." he says, his gravelly voice filling the room, "I knew you would not disappoint."
"I aim to please, my liege."
"And you..." Aamon says, focusing back on you, "My, I really outdid myself making you! A real beauty." He pauses, tasting the air, "A powerful one at that. The air is thick with your magic. Yes, you'll do quite nicely."
You freeze for a moment, lost in an old memory. Aamon isn't a werewolf, but looking into his eyes, and the gaping maw of his, reminds you of the nights you were at the mercy of them during your foster days. You are quick to shake it off, but the demon notices.
"I'm sorry, I should have realized this form would cause you discomfort." A brief flash fills the room, blinding you. "Is this better?"
When your eyesight returns, Aamon is much smaller. He's taken the form of a man... Mostly. His body is purely human, muscled and beautiful, but his head has taken the shape of an owl. When he opens his beak, you can see sharp canine teeth inside.
"Better." you say, finding it hard to speak in front of such an old and powerful creature.
"Good. Now, I'm afraid this isn't a social visit. I trust Astromos has filled you in?"
You nod. "There's a debt to be paid between yourself and my sperm donor. You need my blood to help track him down."
"It's a bit more complicated than that, but yes. Here's my I need from you..."
What does Aamon need?
