Chapter 8
by tantrikenetic
Follow him into the tent?
Yes
"Okay, okay." You say as Doe helps you to your feet. "As long as we can keep the eye poking to a minimum."
"Again, I apologize. But once you hear what I have to say, I hope you will understand." He holds open the flap to the tent as your companion leads you in. The inside of the tent is featureless, except for a fire built in the center. Amazingly, the smoke rises straight up into the air and out the top instead of filling the room.
You slowly sit down and Doe guides you to the floor. As she bends over, you get a good view down her shirt, but wisely evade your eyes to try and keep the darkness from adding its own commentary. She sits down next to you and Bhekizitha sits across from the fire.
"We can talk freely here. The eyes of the Black Citadel can't locate this tent, thanks to the wards I have on it." He says.
"Okay, first things first. What the hell is going on here?" You ask. "What is this place? And what is this Black Citadel business?" Bhekizitha eyes you up wearily.
"Is he your Interloper?" He asks Doe.
"Yes." She nods. He grunts unapprovingly.
"He does not belong in this world. He should leave immediatly."
"Whoa, whoa, wait." You say angrily. "I'm right here, you know!"
"You are a danger here." He says to you directly. "To yourself and everyone else."
"I think you are being too harsh on him." Doe speaks up.
"You have not been in this abomination of a fairy tale long, have you?" The elderly man says accusingly. "You have not seen the evils that this world possesses. What happens when hundreds of happily ever afters are twisted and used by those with corrupt hearts. Have you even been inside another fairy tale?"
Well, have you?
