"That's the second time she's dropped in, right?" you ask, still feeling surprised.

"Yes. She came by yesterday to welcome us to the school. You just missed her, remember? Ms. Wilder commented on it."

"She's certainly perky," you say. "I guess since I said I would, I better go watch a bit of their practice. You coming?"

"Why not?" he answers with a smile. "It's impolite to disappoint a lady." The two of you leave the cottage and stroll in that direction. You walk in companionable silence for a while before he finally speak.

"Pretty girl, that reporter," he says with a wink. "You date her up?"

You feel yourself flush and **** a chuckle. "Not really. I got her to say we'd meet for coffee later this week, but that's about all. She's pretty focused on her job."

"Did you tell her much?"

"What's to tell? She knows way more than I do about this place. Kinda weird some of it. What do you think?"

"I think I have enough to worry about without helping a reporter do her job. I'm just glad to be teaching again." He points towards the soccer field where a group of girls are gathered around Alice Wilder. "There they are."
