"Wait, Dad." You call after him. You think to yourself that your dad might be able to help make sense of all the feelings you've been having. After all, he was once your age. "Do you mind if I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure, I guess. What's going on?"

You sit up and sit back against the headboard of your bed, sighing. Your dad takes that as an invitation, and he sits on the edge of the bed looking at you expectedly.

"Are you going to talk to me, or are you just going to sit there sighing all day?" He asks impatiently.

"Have you ever had feelings for another guy?" You blurt out.

"Oh...um." He stutters. "I guess so, but everyone has those kinds of urges when they're young. Eventually, some people grow out of it."

"So you think this is just a phase for me?" You ask.

"I don't know son, but I do want you to know that your mother and I support you...or whatever. You're going to love who you're going to love and there's no changing that. I just want to make sure you're safe and happy."

"Wow. Thanks Dad, for being supportive I mean."

"I do have one question for you though." He says, looking you directly in the eyes, "and I want you to be 100% honest with me."

"Okay, shoot."

"Have you and Tom, you know? Had sex?" He asks.
