Diana did not know how long she waited until she heard the door opening and footsteps approaching. They were definitely female steps but they didn't sound like Misty's. Most people would have cried out to find who was there but not Diana. Asking 'who's there' would show nervousness. Diana remained silent. The footsteps got closer.
