Rebecca's response
Yes
"Yes Inspector, I'll go out with you Thursday Night." She stepped forward and pressed herself against the Inspector. "When you catch Phantom Ace." He smiled. "I'll see you then." He leaned forward and pecked her on the cheek as he walked away. Rebecca couldn't help but smile. She was really liking this guy. If she was going to make that date, she thought she had better make sure that Hardy caught the Phantom Ace. After returning to the Daily post and giving her report to her boss, Rebecca went home and prepared for the night ahead of her. She opted to forgo her typical starspangled longstyle bikini in favor of her stealth attire, which consisted of a full body leotard, gray tights, black boots and gloves. The only part of her attire that remained was her read magic belt which was the source of her powers. Heading to her garage, she mounted her black electric motorcycle and headed out into the night.
Defender decided to stake out the museum. If Hardy was to be believed, the Phantom Ace would make an appearence to case the building. She planted herself on the highest building over looking the museum and kept an eye out for any movement on the roof top. She waited for several hours but hadn't spotted anything of interest. By midnight, she was wishing that she had brought some coffee because she was starting to get sleepy. Little did Defender know that someone had spotted her and had opted to sneak up on the heroine. "Well what do we have here? Is this another thief I see before me?"
Defender turned around and was meant with what she could only assume was the Phantom Ace. He was dressed in a sharp suit with a trench coat that clung to his upper torso but hung loosy from below the belt. He wore a red tie and gloves. His hair was stark white and and he wore a black mask. Defender was a little taken aback. She had thought that Hardy was handsome but this man looked like a dream. He smiled at the heroine, "No.....Defender if I'm not mistaken. I recognize that hair, figure and belt anywhere." He said as he looked the heroine up and down. Defender came out of her daze. "Phantom Ace I presume." With a wave of his arm, he bowed to the heroine in a dramatic fashion. "Pleasure to make your aquatiance." Defender rolled her eyes. "Spare me your cheap theatrics. I've seen em all before." He smiled at her. "Is that a fact now." He said, as he waved his hands. With a flick of his fingers, he produced a card out of thin air. She could see it was the Ace of Spades. "Cute trick." He chuckled. "I've got plenty more."
He flicked the card which did loops in the air as it moved towards the heroine. She snatched it out of the air and smirked at the thief. Out of the corner of her eye though, she noticed that the card had changed. It was suddenly the queen of hearts. When she looked back up to her shock, the Ace had vanished. Defender turned her head this way and that trying to figure spot the thief when she heard laughter behind her. She whirled around and found the Ace standing behind her. She took a few steps back. "The look on your face is priceless Love." "Why you!!!" She yelled as she ran towards the theif with her fist clenched. Ace smiled and before stepping off the side of the building. Defender's look changed from one of rage to one of horror. "NO!!!" She yelled as she ran to the ledge. She looked down and much to her shock, found nothing.
"Your concern is touching Love." Defender whirled around again and found the Ace standing on the other side of the building. WIth smirk, he turned around and took off in the other direction. Defender gave chase. After that she wasn't going to let this creep get away. The two ran through the city, hoping across roof tops for several blocks. Before long, Defender was starting to get tired. Though her magic belt made her industructable and super strong, it didn't grant her superhuman stamina. And it wasn't like she ran track in high school.
Ahead of her, she watched the Ace leap across a large gap. It almost appeared as though he was gliding through the air. He must have been because when she went to jump the gap, she found it was too big for her. As she slammed into the brick wall, she instantly began to fall only for something to grab her by the wrist. SHe looked up and found that the Ace had caught her. He gave her a smile that caused her to blush. For a crimenal, he sure was handsome. He pulled her put to the ledge and once she had her footing again, she pushed him away. "I would have been fine but I apricate that." She said as she took a fighting stance. "For that, I'll give you a fair fight." She started swinging at the Ace who just laughed as he evaded all her blows. "Hmmmm. You're form isn't bad." He said as he slipped one of her punches on the inside. As he did, he got within an inch of th heroine's face before exiting out of her space. "But it's not great either."
Defender screamed as she threw a punch with all her weight into it. He again slipped under it and she lost her balance, falling to the floor. "You've had a lot of practice fighting but it doesn't appear you've had any training." Defender was panting it. It didn't take an expereinced investigative reporter to know that this man was playing with her. She stood up and took a fighting stance and was meant was a shock. The Ace stood their holding her power belt. Her hands instantly went to her waist to confirm the horrifying turn of events. Ace chuckled. "I couldn't help but notice this was the only consistent piece between your costumes. And judging by the look on your face I'd say it was important.
Defender rushed towards the thief. "GIVE THAT BACK!" she yelled as the thief easily sidestepped her as she fell to the ground again. "Tell me what it is and it's all yours Love." Defender's eyes went wide. She couldn't tell him that the belt was the source of her power. If that information got out, she'd be in trouble. However, she didn't like her chances of getting the belt back on her own either.
What will Defender do?
