You were just about to tell Alex to hang up when the phone stopped ringing. Then you heard static, and you thought, The line is going to disconnect, but the static is replaced by a curt, female voice.

"Welcome to Pizza Sound, how can I help you?"

The voice was monotonous. It was clear she was unimpressed with whatever events had led her to welcoming callers to Pizza Sound and asking how she could help them.

You and Alex shared a shocked expression. Clearly, this wasn't the person you had spoken with in the morning; and yet, that anyone had answered at all was incredible.

"Did you call this number this morning?" Alex asked.

"Did a pizza shop give you a morning call?" Asked the woman on the other end of the call. "Nope. Listen, are you going to order something, or what?"
