Chapter 3 by sabrinPog sabrinPog

Do they go to the yard sale?

Yes they go to the yard sale.

Note: the character "Andria" has been renamed to "Ellis"

"Yard sale? I've never been to one," Liz said. "Could I come with you? I could pick out some things for the room as well.

"Oh yeah totally, the more the merrier," Ellis said. I uh, kind of decluttered my hoard, there was loads of junk in there, and now I need to build a new one. You can totally help, I hate empty rooms."

"Omg 'the hoard' haha, we do need to turn this place into our little hoard," Liz said.

Ellis had heard Liz was a bodyhopper, the idea made them chuckle. To think that someone so small and adorable could undertake in the most dominant action possible was kind of funny. Maybe she just used it for sweet things, like helping friends feel confident during oral presentations or something.

"So uh, what are you studying," Ellis asked, trying to make small talk.

"Oh I'm studying sociology, trying to destroy western civilization one gender at a time," Liz joked. "Let me just get my bag and we can go to that yard sale.

"Haha yeah," Ellis responded, "yeah it's five minutes away walking."

"What are you studying? what's your path to world domination?" Liz asked.

Ellis grabbed a black mask from one of their pockets and put it on. They were glad Liz could only see half their face because they were blushing._ Wow she's really cool _they thought. "Oh I'm studying literature, I want to become a professor." They took a bag with them and followed Liz out the door. "We just have to go straight, take the third street on the left and then the second on the right.

Heh, they're so goth, Liz thought to herself, they look like my little assassin with that covered face. "Got it," she said pretending to commit the directions to memory but knowing full well that she would as "this street?" on every street.

When they actually set out Ellis got confused as well, forgetting how many streets they passed by. In the end they were able to find it not by their own sense of direction but by the persistence of the family who put up "yard sale this way ->" signs at every intersection in a two block radius. They arrived at a medium sized house with a large front lawn and tables full of things like appliances in various states of disrepair.

Liz gravitated to the electronics section, always looking for things she could revive, she spotted what looked like a typewriter with a cathode ray tv haphazardly attached to it.

"Oh my god! A Motorola MDT-9100!" She eeked excitedly. "How much is it?" she asked to the boy manning the cash register.

"Huh? Grampa's old computer? It doesn't turn on so $12," he said.

"Deal," Liz said, an old computer that no longer booted was the perfect kind of challenge for her.

Ellis couldn't help but smile as Liz got ridiculously exited about her computer thingy, they could barely get a computer to work let alone repair an ancient one. They then looked around for the more interesting stuff and found a table in the back. An old man was standing behind it, arms crossed.

"I was wondering when someone would come here," he said.

Ellis smiled but he couldn't see it through the mask. There was a broken mirror with the word "Beauty" painted on it in black. Ellis almost wanted to get that just because of how weird it was. "I like that statue," they pointed to the Greek statue of a naked man crouching, "how much?"

"That's an antique," the man said, "$300."

"Oh hmm," Ellis said, pretending to consider it. They pulled our their phone and texted Liz, "I'm not good at haggling, can you help with this?"

How does Liz help Ellis?
