Chapter 12

Is she?
Yes she is
It was Jessica's turn to blush red. Her hand had been called. She smiled sweetly at Lisa. "Why Lisa Bennet, you must be a mind reader. I felt something the moment I laid eyes on you. I don't know where this will go, but I don't want to miss my chance, if I have one with you. I've always liked women better than men."
Lisa smiled back in response. "I must admit, I've never been in a relationship before. This is all so new to me. I'm not sure how to handle it. My momma always told me women were good for breeding with men, and that was it. But being raised on the frontier with three brothers was a rough and tumble life, if you know what I mean. There weren't many friends to be had. But there was one I was kind of sweet on, and that was a girl Becky. I guess that was kinda doomed from the start. my brothers caught us skinny dipping in the river. They took our clothes as they watched us. We were kind of exploring each other, and we even kissed. Well, them three went back and told our mommas, and that was the end of that. My momma gave me a severe ass whoopin' and forbid me ever to see Becky again. I got preached to for two months solid about how wrong it was, and that I needed to find a good man or boy to set me straight. I didn't bother with anybody after that. I ran away from home, and decided to settle in the first town I came upon. That was Fulcher's Gulch along the new railroad they started building. I ran into quite a few cowpokes along the way, and they taught me how to shoot and hunt. There was also this Chinaman named Caine who taught me some secret Chinese self defense stuff he called Kung Fu. He did that because he saved me from a bunch of drunken saddle tramps one night. I was almost **** by the lot of them. I worked on the railroads for a little bit until I had enough money saved up to come here to Deadneck to make a new start."
Jessica looked at Lisa in amazement. "I'd say you've had kind of a rough and tumble life, Lisa Bennet. I'd like to be a part of that life." She paused for a moment, not sure what she should say next, or how to say it. "I ain't never been had by no man before. Like you, I was raised around three brothers. They all used to tease me a lot because I never cared much for boys. I must say John turned out to be the worst of them, but he was the only one who ever cared about hurting my feelings. We were kinda close in that way, but that was about it. My brother James is a lawyer back East, and Tommy is a professor at some snooty school in Boston. Daddy always wanted the boys to make something of themselves, and all his hopes were on John. I was just to stay at home and learn womanly things. You know, like cooking and cleaning, and mending. Well I learned those things, but I never really liked it. When my brothers went away, my pa started relying on me more to help with the ranch. I learned how to herd cattle, lasso a steer, milk the cows, and work the fields. John was the last to leave, and he went his own way. I reckon that's when he started turning bad." Jessica paused again as she recalled some painful memories.
"I got where I am today because our ranch was attacked by rustlers. They killed my ma and pa, and took everything we had. Pa had made me hide in the root cellar because he knew what would happen if they found me. I've been hunting those bastards ever since, collecting the bounty on their heads. So that's how I make my living, Lisa Bennet. I'm a bounty hunter." Jessica reached across the table, and gently caressed the side of Lisa's face. This made Lisa smile and blush profusely. "I reckon we're both virgins, and I'd like it if you were to be my first, and if I was to be your first. Will you have me, Lisa Bennet?"
What does Lisa decide?
