Chapter 4 by kiahoga kiahoga

Does she really want you to be the cheerleading coach,

Yes she does

"But i know nothing of coaching cheerleaders other than what I remember from watching them prace around during games." You protest.

"I know it's not ideal and I'm not asking you to choreograph or plan routines." Barbara assures you.

"What would I be doing then?" You inquire.

"Well, most of the day-to-day activities would be handled by your assistant coach Maddie." Barbara pauses, showing you the picture on the desk. One of the twins wears a blue and green cheerleading outfit.

"My daughter would help you there in addition to the head cheerleader. What I need is for you to be the adult in the room. If they have a crazy-sounding idea, rein them in and be their chaperone." She finished.

"So my job is to frown and make sure they're not kissing their boyfriends when they should be working." You pause.

Nodding she replies, "That's what I need. Like I said it's not ideal, but with our budget cuts recently, thanks to the governor, I don't have the money to hire another teacher."

With all the culture war nonsense that's been in the news, you could certainly understand the principals' frustration. Not liking it but also not wanting to damage the relationship with your new boss, you decide to do it.

"Well, I can watch some YouTube videos to get an idea of what sort of crazy ideas I need to watch for." You grumble.

"At best, it's only till the end of football season, and at worst, only for this year." She assures you.

With that decided, she hands you your keys. The two of you get up, and she walks you out to the parking lot, chatting about the school. Already thinking about the sheer amount of work you need to do with lesson plans and the like, you fail to see Barbara stop and exclaim, "Look out."

With a thud, something careens into you, knocking you to the ground and landing on you.

What hit you?
