Chapter 16 by Gentlemen8p Gentlemen8p

Deal or no deal?

Yes but reluctantly.

The young man looked to the girl crying in front of him and listened to her request.

“Hell, I don’t need this crap in my life right now.” He complained to himself. “Out of everything, getting murdered by Max, for talking to his girl, is the one thing I can avoid.”

“Can you believe that guy? Whom does he think he is, making Tyler cry?” A trio of school girls walked passed, bickering to one another before Random’s glare scared them off. “Ew! Gross can’t believe he looked at us.”

“Sheesh!” He looked to Tyler; her face bore a daunting expression as she waited for the boy’s answer. It made the young man feel unease. He gave a short sigh. “If there’s anything I hated more than Max, it’s seeing a girl cry.” Again in the safety of his head. “Fuck it! I doubt I’ll be able to find anything but if there's a chance to hinder the brute’s relationship it'll be worth the trouble.

Random reached a hand into his pocket. Looking for something to wipe away her tears. However, the boy found nothing, but the torn piece of fabric of his attacker’s clothing, it still stained in blood. His blood. A second sigh crept from his lips as he stuffed it back into his pocket.

Random breathed easy an odd sensation taking over him. The boy hadn’t felt this confident, not since his first encounter with the red serpent, Crimson. His tone and body language shifting to suit his needs. “For a beautiful girl like you? Friendship be damn! I’ll agree to your request.”

Tyler, far from taken back from the boy’s change in tone but the girl felt ecstatic as if a weight had been removed from her shapely shoulders. Her tears ceased as she caught Random into a hug. Her strong arms pulled the boy in close, her chest pressed against his. Random felt the need to stop his hand from cupping a feel of her well-toned ass.

Another second later Random would break whatever morals he had left. Tyler pulled herself off the boy and reached for her purse but the young man held a hand out. “Keep your money, I require something else.” He took a step back and held his chin, his eyes searching the girl’s body.

Tyler, for once, picked up on his wandering eyes and squirmed on the spot. “Random! You’re such a perv! You know I can’t offer you anything naughty!” She joked.

“You’re uniform.” Straight forward Random replied.

“What?” She asked somewhat confused.

“I want your new uniform.” An odd request for sure but lewd thoughts aside Random was being pragmatic. His mind went back to Crimson’s own uniform in disrepair and since Tyler was the person she had first stolen it from, would seem they were both the same size, Tyler perhaps being larger in more ways than one. “You see my little sister has outgrown her’s recently and we haven’t got the cash to fork out for a new one.”

The volleyball captain fidgeted like she’d just seen a puppy. “D’aww I didn’t know you had a little sister, that’s so adorable!” She fell in love with the idea of the young man having a younger sister. “She can have my uniform even if you find nothing!”

“Ha, might make it my life mission to keep a uniform from ever touching that body if it’s this easy.”

“You’re still not mad, are you? Come on Crimson please give me the answers!” It was now later in the day and again the pair were sat listening through a history lecture taught by Mr Leon. The two ‘Soulmates’ were on shaky ground with one another. The demon didn’t appreciate being shooed away earlier and boy did she show it.

Unable to get a word or thought from the demon the boy focused on the lesson for once. “The Carolingian sword or more commonly known as the Viking sword was used throughout Norse culture.” Mr Leon was like a kid at Christmas when he spoke of history, much excitement and glee. Despite the teacher’s looks, he was the biggest nerd out of all of us.

Mr Leon pushed onto the next side revealing something familiar. “The most famous of these swords, a master-crafted weapon called ‘Helbani.’ The usual translation agreed upon being ‘Hellbane.’” The history teacher looked across the room and smiled that at least Random was paying attention but for different reasons. “Now the maker of this weapon has been lost to history and sources of its wielder only give the brief definition of him being a Norse raider who used to the blade to slay demons, after converting to Christianity…”

Crimson! Crimson!” He shook the creature’s shoulder to get her attention.

“Ugh, fuck off worm!” She thought bluntly.

“Just look!” He pointed to the image of the sword. “Please tell me am not the only one who sees a similarity.”

Curiosity got the better of the demon and she looked at the screen. The demon’s eyes went wide, and they both agreed that the historical weapon, Mr Leon spoke of was the same weapon safety tucked away, under the boy’s bed.

“Bet it cost a fortune!” The duo thought in unison only for their dreams of plenty to hit the jagged rocks of reality.

“… Over the centuries many replicas have been made and people claiming ownership of the legendary sword. So lacking evidence about the blade's original creator, historians wouldn’t be able to tell the original between a fake." The school bell rang ending the teacher’s rant. he added. “I want thousand-word essays on the Carolingian empire, on my desk by Monday.” The assignment provoked a groan from the entire class.

After Random left the classroom, he caught the massive build of Max push through the crowd of students and enter the classroom. The boy raised a brow at this; it wasn’t like Max to do anything besides harass girls and talk bs. “Hey Crimson I’ll catch up in a second.”

Do they stay behind?
