Living With a Demon!

Living With a Demon!

The story of a nobody

Chapter 1 by Gentlemen8p Gentlemen8p

The world before him was strange. A place of pitch-black darkness where the only source of light appeared miles away. Random walked for what felt like hours. The glow his lighthouse pushing him forwards.

The young man finally made it to his light only to be greeted by a sight that he could've never imagined. A large red serpent slithered towards him, its entire body radiated with light, it's crimson eyes peering from the shadows at him. Despite its appearance, it was the only source of light in this world and like a moth to a flame Random was drawn to it.

“Are you going to speak or just stare? Little Mouse.” The creature spoke in a feminine voice filled with annoyance. “I hate dealing with humans, males particularly.” The serpent removed its gaze, disgusted.

“I'm I dead?” The creature replied with a short burst of laughter, avoiding the question.

“Let's hurry this along.” The creature's body coiled behind the young man, sending a shiver up his spine, as it passed in between his legs. “No, not dead. Sadly. Would be far easier if you were.” It paused. “My name is Crimson if it wasn’t obvious I am a demon.” As snakes tend to do, it began to wrap itself around their prey, slithering up Random's back and rested its head upon his shoulder. “This is but a dream Little Mouse. The dream that could change your life for better or for worst.” It filled the boy's ear with the promise before adding. “It doesn't matter to me, I get what I want in the end.”

Random sighed in relief, being told this was just a dream and growing newfound confidence when he spoke to the demon. “A demon? Spare me the bullshit and tell me what you want with me?”

The demon hissed into his ear, revealing its temper. “You?! I couldn’t care less about you, human. I just want your pitiful excuse for a soul.” The demon calmed itself and went back to a business-like tone. “So this how it works you can ask, I give. You die. I collect.”

“Basically, your willing to give me my heart's desire, in exchange for my soul when I eventually die?”

The demon’s tone changed immediately at the human understanding her proposal. “Yes ... Hurry up and you shall have your desire.

“I can ask for anything, eh?” He asked, curiously.

Her eyes perked up at her new catch, showing slight discomfort at his question. “Uh, yea. Anything goes.”

Random smiled mischievously. “Then how about, you?” He dropped a hand on the demon's head like she was some kind of pet. “If you will take my soul, I will take yours! I wish for you to be with me forever! This is but a dream you said, so that shouldn't matter!"

“Are you some kind of moron?” Crimson asked plainly.

“Moron? Ouch! This is my dream can't I have a little fun? Besides, I'd prefer to dream about a beautiful girl, not some creepy snake.”

“You'll regret this I'll make sure.” Both the serpent and its surroundings flared into a crimson blaze, the young man felt a staggering pain strike his chest. The world from his dreams faded. The Demon's words lingered.

Random roused from his heavy slumber with an innocent look on their face. First, aware of the cool air and the smell of half-eaten noodles, left on their nightstand. Feeling the soft mattress, he began to sink into as if his bed was quicksand. Second, the boy half wondered if they were still dreaming, only to come to the harsh reality that he wasn’t. He sat up to feel a delicate hand cling to his shirt. Random looked down at the hand and the arm it was attached to with a dopey expression. “Huh?”

What has he woken up next to?
