What *do* you say?
Yes and lie!
"Uh, no," you say, and feel a strange thrill as you hear your voice again, sounding so... weird. It's not a particularly deep voice, but it's definitely deeper than your normal one, and... you kind of like it... "I mean, yeah, I'm here, but this isn't Ellie."
"David?"
Huh, maybe from the outside and over a phone your voice sounds like your brother David's? You know voices sound different in people's heads... "No, I'm not David, I'm... their cousin, Elliot."
You wince as soon as you say it, but it's the only thing you could think of. Of course, her followup is a suspicious "Elliot? Never heard her talk about you... why do you have her phone?"
"I arrived last night," you say, heart pounding. Why are you saying all this, what's the next step... what else could you say? "Ellie's actually gone out for a bit, but she left her phone here because mine's not working, and she's gone to get me some stuff with David." God you're doing a terrible job lying... but David happened to go on a trip with his friend yesterday, and you just need to get Pam here... "She told me you might call, though, and to invite you over if you want to wait here?"
